Tire valve caps
There was a thread closed yesterday on replacing the tire valve stem caps, I didn't have a chance to answer until now so;
The Shop Manual says; on page 3-94 under Removal Procedure, point 2, second paragraph; " the cap is aluminum and the valve is nickel plated to prevent corrosion and are not to substituted with a cap or valve made of any other material".
I checked on my car and the valve stem cap is a non-magnetic metal and it has a soft washer that seats on the top of the valve stem.
Looks like we have to replace the caps with OE parts! Wonder if use of discount caps voids the tire/wheel warranty?

you guys and gals getting your cars serviced at Cadillac Dealers be carefull they don't give you that Special Velour Cadillac Air, it's too soft to work right in a 'Vette.

Does this mean that the aftermarket caps with the C6 logo are going to cause a problem? I have those but they feel like they are chrome-painted plastic. Got them from West Coast Corvettes.
BTW, what is genuine Corvette Air?

I do remember reading one post where a tire dealer charged I think it was about $40 for replacing the tire air with nitrogen claiming it would not increase the tire pressure as much as normal air would.
Then another member member mentioned that normal air is made up of 80% nitrogen anyway.
