C6 or 04 Z06???? Can't decide!
If I get a C6, it would have to be a 1sx with Z51 and nothing else... preferably black, and 6spd only.
I can easily find a black/black Z06. There is a beauty nearby with only 1000 miles on it.
I will be test-driving a C6 soon. I know the C6 will conclusively win on the interior, and it may be a bit more "refined" and tame, which could be good considering this will be my only car.
However, I'm torn on looks, performance, and allure. The Z06 is, after all, just plain badass. Also, I slightly prefer its low-slung, smooth looks. Very graceful yet evil in black. It also seems to be equal or marginally (just barely) quicker than the C6. There is no conclusive proof on performance, though.
However, the interior is... well, not a C6 interior. Plus the top doesn't come off, and there is a certain allure to the edgier, more modern C6 design. I'm not totally sold on it yet, but I have a feeling in the long run I may prefer it. Plus, there's a longer warranty period.
The final caveat is this: price!
What are the odds I could get a new or near new (2000 miles or less) C6 1sx Z51 for around 40k?
I know I can find a pristine C5 Z06 at or below 40k... C6 though?
Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

this was the decision I had to make as well. I decided (after looking at Lexus' etc...) that the interior mattered to me much more than it did in my younger days (I know I am still young, but relatively speaking), that I really like taking the roof off (even if it is only a few times per year), and that the new body will be contemporary for much longer and Im not sure how long I will have the car. Its all teh little things in the end that really added up for me. 6.0L, Z51 perf., HID lights, push-button start, 19s in the back, a much better (IMO) looking rear end, etc...
Im sure youll be happy either way, good luck!

Maybe just a 1sx and no Z51/ We'll see how much I like the C6 when I drive it, I guess.

I had a 2002 Z-06 and for my money, it had more raw power feel than the C6 z-51 I have today. If I stood on the Z-06 in first, threw a good shift, you could feel the beast shuddering as it tried to get traction and go, which it did quite well. My dislikes were the relatively small trunk space and the stock tires which weren't run flats. I know they're not the best for performance, but traveling around NY the thought of pulling off the road and waiting for a flat bed, didn't sit well with me. Now the C-6 Z-51 has plenty of power, but not as much as what I perceived in the Z-06. As far as ride comfort, handling, useable storage, amenities etc. the C-6 wins hands down. Now you have to keep in mind I'm 60 going on 18 so I'm probably more inclined to be comfortable as compared to some of the younger bucks on the forum, so you have to take that into consideration as well. Either one you choose, they're both great cars and you'll be in for the time and ride of your life. Good Luck !!

Recently I went through a similar decision making process between 04 Z06 or 05 C6. I had an 01 Z06 which I sold a couple years ago, so I knew what to expect there. Now that I have had the C6 for a while I will say it is a more refined car but is that what you want? For a daily driver as you suggest this will be for you, go with the C6. If you want to track it or race it around on weekends I would go with the Z06. I am hapy with the C6 but there are days I would prefer to have the Z06.
If your not stuck on buying new, look for a lightly used C6 coupe. You could find one with many options for 45K or less. An 04 Z06 would go 36-37 depending on miles.
Good luck with your decision,

I had the same dilemma at the end of july.
In my mind, newer technology + longer warranty for just a little bit more money sold me on the C6.
I ended up ordering a brand new C6 (couldn't find a 1SX z51 MN6 anywhere.) I pick it in bowling green a week from tomorrow. I paid $43.7k (including the $500 museum delivery cost)

Well, I'm 21 and interior space or luxury isn't a HUGE concern, but I'm unsure as I'm coming from a Volvo luxury sedan that is rather plush inside. There is a certain allure to the raw nature of the Z06, however...
The deal JTerp got new sounds great! I think Kerbeck has a Z51/1sx coming in soon...
I think this model is a 1sx, doesn't say though. It does have Z51, however, and is really close to West Point so I'll be checking it out. Looks over priced to me if it is indeed a 1sx.

Wouldn't have been so harsh but my research shows easily 35-45K for a low milage 04 Z06.
Only thing you're losing on the 04 Z06 is GPS. You can have a LOADED 04 Z06 for about 40K. You won't find a base model C6 there are not building many 1SX packages. If you don't want the fancy stuff and don't need GPS, I'd totally go for the 04 Z06 and save the 10K you'd spend on the C6. I love my C6 Z51 but I wanted all the goodies so that drove my choice. I love my GPS and use it everyday but you can get a nice add in GPS from garmin for well under 1000 that does as more than my GPS. Just not as integrated.
Since you're looking at the base model C6 JUMP at the fully loaded 04 Z06, it will have memory and a HUD, you'll love those features and you'll get it for about 40K. You'll still have a warrenty which you may be able to extend. The 04 Z06 is a total bargain. You're STEALING it. You'd be almost silly not to opt for an 04 Z06 if you don't want one of the specifics on the C6 that the Z06 didn't have.
