Presently live in Maryland and will be moving back to Arizona in 2 years, so I'm seriously considering purchasing one.
Thanks for the feedback.

If you're moving BACK to Arizona, you know you're going to need it...big time.
Lloyd's made one for my C4 that was made from high quality carpet, and it kept my dash pad looking new. They don't seem to make a dash mat for the C6. California Car Cover has C6 dash mats in either velour , or carpet, but they don't show a picture of it installed.

Gosh, they are really ugly! Why not do what the the folks in Arizona do and get the window shade, I think they also keep the windows a 1/2" down when parked outside. I'm originally from Chicago, now living in Nashville I always forget to crack the windows slightly.

I think one of the forum vendors is coming out with a special "Aunt Bea Package" for the C6. It includes dash mat, clear plastic seat covers, doily for the console, hand-crocheted cover for the shift ****, cocoa fiber shoe cleaner mat for the sills, and piney scented air freshner to hang off the rear view mirror. There is a special adapter available if you have a mirror-mounter radar detector. When it was offered to Fred Beans, he had to be talked down from the roof of the Sears Tower by Dr. Ruth.

While just as effective, windshield shades are a RPITA...every time you stop anywhere, you have to remember to take the time to dig the thing out from its hiding place, unfold it, and mess with trying to get it in position.
Have trouble remembering to "crack" your windows?...You would have just as much trouble remembering the shade. And, if you aren't anally persistent in using it, the top of your dash will be cracked like black-land dirt in a drought (This analogy will be totally wasted on northern city people).
In contrast, a dash mat does its job just laying there; no muss and no fuss. The trick is to find one that will look attractive while it lays there. Anyone that thinks a dash mat is a fuzzy-dice-esque geegaw to take a fool's money has never spent much summertime in the southwest. I used to live where water is wasted; now, I'm a believer.

I have used one on all my Vettes, I have never had a problem and it cut down (on the C4 and C5) HIGH sun reflection that washed out the windshield at times...

Since mine was Graphite, I also found this to be true...except for the Lloyd's cross-flags logo...the logo looked like it had its own HUD projector, but it was upside down. For that reason, extra cost logos and lighter colors, like light gray or beige, are probably not a good idea. Black will not reflect the heat as well, but you will be able to see out of the windshield.

Let's see, for maximum protection, I need to purchase:
-Dash Mat
-Mud Flaps
-Protective Clear mats over the floor mats
-Saran wrap (or whatever it's called) applied to front of car and mirrors or a bra
-Door sill protectors
-Door bottom scuff protectors
-Seat covers
-Mat over rear cargo carpet with protective clear mat over that
-Nav screen protector
-Windshield shade
well, for me, that would just ruin the enjoyment of the car --
a big part of my enjoying the C6 are it's GREAT looks, so this is not an option for me. MUCH better just to open up the window shade when I park, roll it up when I leave.
your decision, but a definite NO in my book. I think if you really only cared about function and not about looks at all, you would be driving a Toyota Corolla.
Wait till you get in the car that has been sitting in 115 degree Arizona sun for 8 hours and see what you think. The life span of the cheap C6 interior will be cut in half by the UV rays and dash heat. I have never used one in any of my Vettes, but I have been in Arizona in the summer and it ain't no picnic. Go with whatever works for you. I have seen mods on this forum that look ridiculous to me, but all that matters is what you like - that is all that counts.

Have I forgotten anything?
Slacker, you forgot the rear cargo cover that hangs out over the bumper so when you put items in the back you don't scratch the finish and also you forgot the plastic flap in the gas door to protect the finish from scratchs due to inserting the gas nozzle...
P.S. Don't forget the plastic shields for the headlights and foglights...
Is the gas flap a good idea to protect your paint from gasoline spills?

If you install seat covers of anytype i.e. sheepskins won't it stop airbag deploymen?

While you are at it...put plastic covers on your furniture...
