I did a lot of mountain driving last week and while the NAV was a great feature and I kept it on almost full time, it did have problems. On a lot of winding roads it often gave me instructions to turn where there wasn't even a road - it would warn me up front of a turn coming, dozens of miles in advance sometimes as it would with a real turn, but there would either be no turn there or a very minor cross road. Also, the display would show a jagged, almost a tear, in the road at that point. I assume the DVD holds all highway/road info and the NAV gets only positioning info from the satelite. Does that mean I have a bad disk or perhaps the NAV was having problems receiving the tracking info? Anyone else had this problem - it only seemed to be a problem in mountain terrain.
I've had similar issues, and here is what I've observed. I'd be driving on a main highway (not interstate) in the middle of the countryside. An itty bitty road would T into the road. If the T was to the left, the nav babe would tell me to turn right. If the T was to the right, the nav babe would tell me to turn left. The correct instruction is to continue straight on the main highway.

I've observed the same type of thing. Even when doing 70 MPH on the highway, sometimes the Nav will think I've "jumped" roads if there is another tiny little road right next to the highway and it's between GPS updates for a few seconds. It'll then start telling me how to get back on the highway I'm already traveling on. When you get to a sharp turn on a country road, it'll sometimes tell me to "turn right ahead" when it's just a sharp bend in the road. I think these are just little quirks of the system. Nothing to worry about.
Glad to hear it is not just my NAV but I would like to know how to fix it. Like one of you said, I don't have this problem with my Lexus = What could be different? Thank you all for your input.
The Vette Nav was originally on board the skud rockets It starts off OK but has no idea where it's taking you so it adjusts on the way and lands you anywhere it wants. I may be too harsh it really is very reliable if you know where you are going. Several hand-helds and the Infiniti and Lexus systems are far better. More GM excellence but I love the C6 anyway
