Default C6's many problems??

OK, I finally plunked down my $$$$ at Kerbeck, got LMB 1sa @ 3000 off MSRP and it's my first vette.... I started watching the posts in this forum. I have to say I'm a bit worried with all the problems these c6's have, dead battery, no start, doors stay unlatched, roof cracks when "off camber", doors not aligned properly so now there's stone damage under doors, high heat in console area from tunnel, FM static and fix is to tear apart dash and trunk.
Ive also heard that vettes are horrible in the rain, its my primary car here and now I have doubts about Chevrolets Flagship car
Can someone please comment on these problems and handling? Have they fixed any of these at the factory? My build week is Sept 5

I have to wonder if most of us have had problems, or that those are the ones whose posts we remember. I have 6200 miles with none of the problems you mention. The car has been a delight so far...

My C6 is my first Vette, too.It now is 10 months old - 7000 miles, and no problems whatsoever. None. Zero. I'm sure you'll find most members have had similar experience. Relax - you've made an excellent decision.

My VR/Cash/Z51 built 1/12/05, took delivery 2/4/05, 0 problems and 5,000 miles of smiles. Drove it in heavy rain twice, no worries. Also, my first Vette.

Lot's of us for whom this is first Vette. Mine is a 1sb, mn6, NAV, two top, F55 with just under 1000 mi...zero problems so far. So far, the most fun I've had in a car. It works fine in the rain, though I'll make my Jeep a daily driver for winter snow, ice, magnesium chloride (a CO special), sand and gravel.

Relax and enjoy the ride.

05 Corvette
Had the A/C problem - fixed. Had the Service Traction Control/Check Engine - fixed. No other problems, 7,000 miles - my "economy car".

On my 03 Toyota 4Runner (purchased new) - Valve noise (loud!) - not fixed; driveline vibration - not fixed; cheap, cheap, cheap mouse fur interior coming apart - not fixed.

Nothings perfect, it's the ability and willingness of the manufacturer and dealer to make it so.

Don't worry, enjoy your new ride. You will love it! As far as driving in the rain, keep in mind that you have a bunch of torque at your command. Driven with that in mind, the C6 is fine in the rain.

Not to say there aren't real problems, all first year (and later too) vehicles have their share, but the internet is a b!tch magnet. Go to ANY forum on ANY subject and you will swear you should NOT own that item. Plasma TV, cell phone, car, gun, air conditioner, motorcycle... all's BAD on the internet. People that are happy with what they bought post far less than those that have had problems.

I gotta tell ya' my C6 is as perfectly put together as my wife's Lexus LS430 IMO. I've had it a year come October{early Production Car}.

I had only one complaint re; Poor quality Polished Wheels, it took awhile but finally got a new set of wheels.

So far I'm more in Love with this Car more than any Car I've ever owned and I've had a bunch.

Although it's not my daily driver I can't wait to get behind the Wheel of my C6 whenever I can.

I think you'll be totally Stoked!

I have not checked, but it's a fair guess that these are contracted out, not done by 'actual' GM employees. It's hard to get manually intensive work llike that done through third party, so it kind of surprises me that people who want that done don't just go local, anyway.

thanks everyone for making me feel more comfortable with my decision to purchase the C6.
I do realize that everyting may have glitch here and there, but the forum/general discussion, had so many posts about the problems I was getting a bit nervous! After thousands sold I hope this is a small majority of complaints!
Thanks again, should be a blast come the end of Sept.!

I'm on my second C6 already. No problems with either one of them. I had two C5's - a 2001 and a 2003. As you know, the C5 came out in 1997. Yet both of my C5's became afflicted with problems that were well know the entire run of C5's.

Don't worry about a few glitches if they occur...probably won't be like losing your electrical system at night in an airplane and wondering where you can glide to. If you're really concerned, activate your OnStar.

Forums like these are definitely biased toward "troubleshooting". People tend to flock here when they have a problem and leave when it's gone, so the amount of problems you see (while they are legitimate) are exagerated as far as the frequency with which they occur. The C6 is a helluva solid car with very few problems overall. All cars have "common" issues, but few have forums as passionate as those serving the Vette. Enjoy and don't let the few problems like dead batteries, crank bolts, etc. fool you into thinking they are more common than typical issues on any other car.

When I took delivery of my car I had to drive it home in the rain.--no problems whatsoever...NOTE: Keep it factory stock if you don't want problems. If you do modifications to your car you do run a chance of having lots of problems and voiding your warranty .
