IMHO, the upsides of black:
All the flat black trim matches, along with the door handles and CHMSL. The "interesting" looking head lamp assembly's look better in black. The "smile" is less noticeable. When clean and shined, you can't beat it.
Downsides:
A bitch to keep clean and shined, hotter, shows dirt, scratches, and swirls more.
My black has a TPW of 9/12.
