See, I've been on the forum long enough to get the Bose bashing lingo down!
Okay, for my official answer. The C6 coupe I had did not have Navigation or XM and I was very satisfied with it.
My convertible has Nav & XM. The XM sound is very dissapointing, and the rear speakers are worthless. So my vote is that the coupe is okay, but the Vert could use a little help.
Agreed. My '02 330CI came with a premium Harmon/Kardon sound system. IMHO it was not very good. I did (had to) replace every component (amp, head unit, speakers) with mid range gear and it sounded and worked way better than the factory BMW stuff.
I too fall under the group of people seeking to do a speaker swap. I have a vert with the nav option, and am looking to keep the head unit while replacing the speakers and amps. I recently spoke with a local shop in the SW Florida area, and talked about the JL Audio CleanSweep unit a little bit. Has anybody went this route? And if so, are the results worthwhile?
Also, on a side-note directed toward those residing in the SW Florida region: I am looking at using a business called Audio Connection located in Fort Myers, FL on Metro Parkway to do the install work for a system upgrade. From a brief phone conversation, the owner seemed to know what he is talking about, and appears to be an honest guy. However, I still always like to get some customer reviews. So if anybody in the SW Florida area has used this business for any installs, please do share your experience.
Because Bose was the only one that would step up in 1984 to have a system produce the exact same sound to both passenger and driver in the confines of a sports car. So you pay 10 mega grand for a system then play MP3's kind of like shooting mice with a 44.
No need for a cleansweep or any high to low converter. You can tap the low level signals with a little bit of effort. All the info is under the Gereral audio section of the forum. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...25&forum_id=20

I agree with Shopdog. I have an Infinity system in my 1994 Dodge. It was one step up from the base system (similar to the 1SA/SB upgrade over 1SX). It was a component system with separate in dash tweeters and six speakers. It was clear, crisp, had good fidelity, good stereo imaging and wasn't a $3,000 upgrade, more like $300.
I got the 1SB package primarily for the "upgraded" stereo and was disappointed. My only dissappointment with an otherwise Great car.

Thanks for the link! I never thought to check out that forum yet. There appears to be quite a bit of information on this subject! I'll have a looksie around to see what others have been doing. I'm always up for saving some money
