Needed to hit the grocery...car wouldn't start...
DIC says "No Fobs Detected"...checked right pants pocket...
Corvette keys are there, as well as Avalanche keys with door remote...
Avalanche keys moved to left pocket...Corvette starts...
Just as a goof, repeated the whole experience with same results.
Bad key karma??? Or just another C6 oddity?? Matters not...still love Corvettes!!!
Other fobs, transmitters and cell phone are all known to mess up our less-than-trusty wireless system.
I got the no fob detected message when I happened to have the fobs for both my C6 & 96 C4 in my pocket. I took one out of my pocket so they weren't next to each other, and the problem was resolved.
If you ever notice a decrease in the remote keyless
entry transmitter range, try doing one of the following:
• Check the location. Other vehicles or objects may
be blocking the signal.
Sounds like other objects in the same pocket may be blocking the signal.
I posted a while ago on this...I've done some testing and been able to confirm the following:
I have not been able to cause interference with any kind of cell phone, nextel, or blue tooth device.
I have been able to confirm that silverado, tahoe, avalanche, (basically truck line) fobs interfere (certain models years, I think 2005 are ok). Also, rendevous, montana's, aztek, uplander, terraza, relay, will interfere as well. They only interfere when they are in near direct contact to the FOB. It doesn't matter if they are activated or not, and get this, if you take the battery out of them, it doesn't change the result.
I determined this pretty much the same way you did, I noticed that I would sometimes get the FOBS not detected message and finally figured out it only happend when I had my 2001 silverado keys with me. I then tested it out by placing the silverado fob on top of the corvette fob and was able to cause/remedy it by moving the fob away/close to it. It pretty had to be touching and sometimes in the right place in the car, near my right pocket had good results. I then took the battery out (of silverado fob) and it still would occur. Since I've learned this and always keep them in separate pockets, I never get that message. I also try to test out friend's vehicles when I get the chance. I've surround the fob in a ball of cell phones and nextels and have never gotten the no fobs detected message.
I had this very same experience not even a month after I took delivery of my C6. My 'other' car is a 2001 Tahoe, and while showing off the Vette to some friends, I couldn't start it. After my face turned 'victory red', I fumbled through my right pocket to make sure I had the fob to begin with. When I reached in, I discovered the fob for the Tahoe was there as well. Switched the Tahoe fob to the left pocket, and vrooooooom, the sound of 400 angry horsies!
Now, all my right pockets are used EXCLUSIVELY for the Vette fob ONLY. Change, other fobs, etc. go directly to the left pocket.
