Last night after washing the car I pulled it into my garage and went through the normal shutdown procedure (reverse and emerg. brake and then shutdown of the engine). As I flipped open the door the alarm (horn) began to sound. My FOB would not shut it off. I then hit the ACC switch on the start button. That stopped the alarm. Is that normal? What could have caused it to sound? If I hit the door lock button once or twice while pushing the door open would that cause the alarm to sound? Or is this another C6 quirk?
I'm with PJinNJ; I think the antenna system did not detect your fob as you were opening the door, even though you had the FOB in your pocket. Here's some info. from page 2-19 of the owner's manual.
Disarming the System
Always use your keyless access transmitter to unlock a
door either by pressing the unlock button on the
transmitter or by squeezing the door handle sensor
while you have the transmitter with you. Unlocking a
door any other way will set off the alarm. If your alarm
sounds, press the unlock button on the keyless
access transmitter to disarm it.
Was the unlock button on the FOB one of the buttons you tried to use to shut off the alarm?
I think pressing the UNLOCK button (inside the car) would also set off the alarm if the FOB was not detected.
Happened to me a couple of times. When I get out everything is normal, shut down properly, door's unlocked etc. I just figured the car do not see the FOB. I'm not worried about it.
When you went to get out of the car, was it locked? Did you have to unlock it before you opened the door?
I believe it was unlocked because I had just pulled in and shut down the engine. I opened the door and I do remember that I may have accidently bumped the unlock or lock button on the door (once or twice). But why should that set off the alarm?

My guess is that you accidentally locked the car with the FOB while you were in the car. If you did and then unlocked the car with the button on the door, that would set off the alarm.
