We all know that the c6 is the coolest latest greatest vette out now I recently traded my 2000 white on red with white vert top for a 05 z51 auto VY on black. I am satisfied with my trade but on the other hand
I still have a hurt spot in my heart that will always beat c5 when I see one on the road. Just wondering if other members feel the same way?
Dude, you are not alone...without the c5 the 6 does not exist..design is a process not an absoule conclusion..the 5 was as big a milestone in the process as is the 6 and the "General" milked it about 1 or 2 years too long in my opinion...recently purchased a C6 Z51 Black on Cashm...and will take delivery in late Oct... Sold my old C2 [many reasons and a couple of years ago] and miss it! I can feel for ya and I can reach ya...but the 6 is an absoulte unto itself and you should enjoy it as such....never forget the past and always enjoy the present..b/c at the end of the day, no matter what...F=P/A
When I was buying my first C5 - a 2001 coupe, my dealer was filling out the paper work for me (I deal with the owner of the dealer, btw). He was talking about what an awesome car it was, and I commented that I really didn't think it was all that good looking. I had a C4 about 7 years earlier, and still liked it's looks better.
He stopped what he was doing and looked up at me and said "then why the hell are you buying it?". I said that I really like the car a lot, but just think the "butt" is way too fat. I always felt that way about the C5. So no, I don't miss the C5, even though I owned two of them and really enjoyed them a lot. But the C6 fixes most of what I didn't like about the C5.
I have not ever owned a Vette, and I'm currently in a 2000 Camaro. When I do get to order the Vette I imagine that I will get over the Camaro , but since I have put 70K on the Camaro I may actually mis it occasionally. The good news though is that will still have visitation rights as I'm gonna be passing the Camaro down to my son.

I feel that way when I see one in Spiral Grey (which mine was), and every once in awhile when I see a sweet Black vert C5 - one of the most sinister looking cars on the road, ever. The hidden headlights and the low DRL "running lights" really make the dark ones look mean.
Sokay - from the driver's seat, it's C6 all the way.
C5's are very cool! I do a double take everytime I see one. In fact driving to Vegas the other day I noticed that when I saw the oncoming cars across the wide center median there were quite a few Vettes.
The C5's look very imposing as they traveled down the road the opposite way, more so somehow than the C6's I saw. I think it is the greater mass at the rear of the car.
Just another stupid obsevation on my part. Boy am I easily amused!
I love my MN6 Z51 C6. It is the Vette to end all Vettes and I am more than satisfied with my purchase. But I definitetly miss my A4 C5. And on more than one occasion I almost returned to the dealer to buy it back to go along with my C6.
Trading that car in was a mistake. That car was set up for drag racing and was modded just right. A good heads and cam package was the only thing missing and..... I could have taken my time doing that, there was no hurry as it only had 17k miles on it..
They finally sold it a few days ago, so at least that temptation is removed.

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
