I feel like I have mastered the somewhat sensitive clutch in my new Z51, but can,t figure out why at 3400 miles I get a shuttering/ chatter feel when taking off in 1rst or when easing back in reverse. Am I the only one with this problem???
Has anyone had this fixed?

Mine was like that when new, but smoothed out around 1000 miles. Maybe you just need more break in time. It might help to abuse it just a touch to accelerate that break in.

I still get that a little but especially when I first start the car. After a couple of starts in 1st or reverse it smooths out. It was worse when I first got the car. The dealer found the clutch fluid to be contaminated and flushed and replaced it. The clutch is liveable now but I still get that shudder epsecially when cold. Z-51 7,700 miles. Clutch is too light and hard to find the sweet spot for engagement. Since I put on the Bullets, I can hear it better and find I modulate the clutch better.
The clutch has to be the one thing keeping me from ordering the manual on the C6. I like a clutch with some feel, some response to it. When I test drove an '05, it felt like I was driving one of those video arcade driving games -- absolutely zero resistance on the clutch.
Of course, my '94 is the opposite -- My left leg is considerably larger than the right, thanks to Chicago rush hour driving...
Question -- Is there any way to tighten up the springs on the pedal or clutch mechanism in order to make it feel more "Normal"?

On the C5, all you had to do was pop the little spring off the pedal arm and instantly you had a clutch with more effort. I think the C6 has the same spring so 10 seconds with a screwdriver and you're back to the bowflex feel you want. Personally, I like the lighter feel.
As to the shuttering that started this thread, is it possible that after becoming more used to the clutch, you are starting out at a lower RPM? When you weren't as used to it, you might have taken off at a higher RPM and that reduced the shutter. Now that you are comfortable with it, maybe you are lugging it a little. The C6 does best when you use about 1500 RPM on the launch when just lugging around. Anything below that and it isn't as smooth.
The first time I noticed mine shutter was when my guide at the museum drove it outside with me in the passenger seat. It improved over time and today at 4300 miles it is not a problem.

Thanks Mike! That makes me feel better about ordering the manual transmission. Sounds like it shouldn't be too tough to make the adjustment. I'd like to set the tension somewhere between "Bowflex" and "No-Flex"...
