2 - when I have it engaged it stays on my DIC unless I clear it...is that normal? If I have Active Handling engaged it disappears off the DIC after a few seconds?
I believe that this mode disables traction control, but retains stability control. It is normal for 'COMPETITIVE DRIVING' to stay until you push reset. IMHO, this mode is like owning a different car.

Which is what the book says, but what is the difference between Traction control off and competitive driving mode. Are active handling and stability control two different things? Otherwise, it seems as if both modes are doing the same thing, which is turning off traction and leaving act. handling on.

You should ahve 3 choices with that button on the center console. Both on, both off, or active handling on & traction off. The 3rd is when it is in the "competitive driving" mode. Stability management is what Porsche calls it, active handling is what Chevy calls it.
Competitive driving mode should give you control over your rear wheels, but leave the active handling on (which can cut power or apply brakes to keep the car from losing control as the computer determines). At least this is the way that I understand it.
but, if you cycle through the switch, you have
both on
traction control off
competitive driving mode
traction control and active handling off
4 choices. I just don't see the difference between tc off and comp. driving. The manual doesn't make it clear either. My *guess* is that active handling is on, but at a higher threshold for engagement.
I believe the competitive driving mode is just active handling that is not as protective of the driver, enabling a little more slip before the electronics interfere.

A little more turn over of the wheels before applying brakes etc...

Wrong, wrong, wrong.
There are four modes:
1.) All assists on.
2.) Traction control off, stability control on.
3.) Traction control and stability turned down, but not off (competition mode).
4.) Traction control off, stability control off. (hold down the button for ~5-10 seconds)
Trust me, there is still some traction control and stability control in competitive mode -- and you will set your fastest times on a road course in this mode. It allows a LOT of leeway, but you can feel both kick in, especially if you make a mistake.
A C6 with everything turned off is definately a handful. I've driven it a few laps around TWS this way, so that I could get a better idea of what I was doing with the car, but it is not what I would call 'fun'.

And when you take it to the track, you can really feel the difference between the four, and I'm not just talking psychological "butt-o-meter" subjectiveness.
The clock doesn't lie, and you can feel the traction control kick in in competition mode and you can hear the brakes firing when you finally trigger that. Neither happens under "all systems off", and the car becomes a completely different beast under those conditions.

I don't know. Check out this video at about 2 1/2 minutes into it. I come out of a turn and apply to much throttle and loose it for a moment. Car was in comp. mode. I assure you the tract. control never kicked in. http://www.nerdenterprises.com/photo...sc6/ricsc6.htm

That is the way it appears to work on mine. I do know it spins less in competition mode than with traction control off.

Never said you couldn't spin the tires. Competition Mode allows for a lot of 'play'. However, trust me when I say that you can indeed trigger traction control in competitive mode. You'll notice that the traction control light is out when in competition mode and is on when you hold down the button -- which then displays the message "traction control off, stability control off."
This is common to all C6's, not just Z51 or F55 models.

Well I only appear to have 3 on mine:
1. All On (default)
2. All Off (one botton press gives me this)
3. Comp Mode (another button press gives me this)
If I hit the button again it goes back to All on. So where is the 4 mode?
