This is a stupid question, and I may already know the answer, but does the automatic memory recall only work for automatics and not 6spd? The manual mentions it, but has automatic in parentheses.
I assume in a 6spd you will always have to hit the memory button when you first get in.

Let me know if I'm missing something here...
Thanks!

You haven't missed anything. Since the C6 does not have a key like the C5, which moved the seat when you inserted the key, a manual C6 won't move the seat when you hit the start button. That's because you need to have your foot firmly on the clutch to start, and a moving seat makes that problematic. In the automatic, it is Ok for the seat to move when you hit the start button because the car is safely in park.

Yes, you have to hit the memory button each time. I have a 6M and my start/memory sequence is as follows: Clutch in; hit start button ; shift to neutral; press memory 1 button; release hand brake; shift into gear; go .

My sequence is slightly different: press memory button (now I can reach the clutch pedal), clutch in, shift to neutral (don't want to start with the stick in gear eventhough I know it won't start unless the clutch is in - old habit), press start button, release hand brake, shift into gear, go.
With the manual tranny you have to have the hand brake set and the car not in motion to use the memory recall. Does not need to be running or anything else.
All the talk about clutch, start button, shift to netural, etc. is incorrect.

IIRC my memory settings will not work initially until I have started the engine although it works fine on shutdown.
I will pay very close attention when I take to the Cheby stealer to have my driver side lo-beam replace under warranty this evening after 31 days and 2500 miles.
My start up sequence is also just a little different. I get in, close the door and hit the #1 button. Once the seat and steering wheel have quit moving, fasten the seat beat. Then depress the clutch and hit the start button. I've always been afraid to fasten the seat belt and then hit the #1 button for fear the seat belt latching mechanism will activate and the moving seat will squeeze the stuffing out of me. It's never happened, but it is a fear.

Something is wrong. The car does not have to be running, nothing needs to be on and you do not even even need to be in the car, FOB does tho. E-brake must be on and the car can not be moving. Press the button, 1 or 2, and the settings will activate. If yours is not doing this it is either not programmed or it is broken. This is a 6 speed manual ... not automatic.

I can pull the hand brake up one click and reset the memory seat position while moving and the car running on my M6.
