Default Rearview Mirror Fix?

Mine's wobbles and is loose. Any easy fix short of going back to the dealer?

Thanks in advance!

Easy...probably. I don't have the service manuals, and I haven't looked at my mirror closely, but...almost certainly there is set screw that retains the mirror to a pad that is bonded to the windshield. Inspect the mirror bracket for about a 1/8" diameter Allen socket head set screw that can be tightened. You will probably have to remove some cover trim to expose the set screw, so be careful not to break the trim. If you don't feel comfortable removing the trim, I would take it to the dealer.

Edit: After looking at my mirror, how to remove the trim is not obvious to me...I would take it to the dealer.

I had the same thing. Took it to my dealer and after a quick look at it they ordered a new one for me. It took about 10 days to get it but then it was a five minute job for them to install it. All under warranty.

had the same problem after they replaced the windshield. first the dealer said the glass shop did something wrong and they had to buy a new one -- whole mirror $300+. shop said they didn't and talked to chevrolet. dealer finally replaced under warranty. looks like a design defect that it going to haunt a lot of people down the road.

Same problem here (post windsheild replacement). Only the glass shop put the windshield in CROOKED too. Made them go thru the insurance company and get me a new mirror AND rubber seal. Just haven't had time to lose the car for the day, to get the windshield removed and re-installed.

Default mirror

It's a new VETTE go to the dealer and get it done under warranty!!That may also help someone down the line as far as making sure the future mirrors are on right the first time!

I had the same problem and was not interested in leaving my vehicle in the shop for a few days while the dealer 'worked' on it.

So, I removed the mirror from the windshield by rotating it (no screws holding it) and found that it is attached to the base plate (glued to the windshield) by three small dia. steel pins in a triangular arrangement. The mirror rotates onto the base plate and is supposed to be held firmly by the force exerted by these pins. Unfortunately, a little too much tweaking of the mirror can bend these pins and cause the mirror to "bounce & wobble."

I solved the problem by removing the mirror, unscrewing the retainer plate on the mirror (small torx driver) and removing the pins. I cut new pins from some piano wire I had laying about, installed the new pins and re-installed the mirror. It's been fine since.

I don't recall the dia. or length of the pins, but you can easily get the piano wire at any hobby shop. If you take a pin with you they might even cut it for you.

Maybe you should send your fix to GM so they can build it right!

If memory servers me correctly, it twists off/on in either direction.
