You do have to pay the destination charge. It is my understanding that the destination charge is the same across the country and it doesn't really matter where the car is delivered to. That is the way it is and the General has spoken so we have to accept that.
I hope that it does not prevent you from taking the NCM delivery. I don't think there has been anyone who has been disapointed by the experience.
Why not just added to MSRP? This way people don't feel like it's a raw deal.

"It is a federal law that all car companies must follow..Destination fees are non negotiable...Each Corvette is still placed on a truck and trucked over here.
"This law was introduced due to the cost that folks in Washington State, Alaska, Cal, Oregon, etc we getting hit with a huge destination fee while folks say here in Bowling Green would have a virtually non-existent destination fee.."
I would imagine that putting it in MSRP might not be permitted as there would be no proof that everyone had paid it. Just make sure your price is low enough that the $800 doesn't seem like a problem.

No doubt a sweetheart deal with the truckers union (and of course, more profit for Chevy).
No, not more profit for chevy or GM.
The destination charge is for the truckers, and is a fixed value regardless of destination in North America. If you live in Bowling Green, or take NCM delivery (awesome, unforgetable experience!), it really sucks. If you live in California, it's a sweet deal...

So if a Corvette is shipped to XYZ dealership in Bowling Green and another is shipped to ABC dealership in California it still costs $800????

Yep....same price all the way around. Total BS if you ask me. They should o ahead and charge actual shipping instead of screwing one person to make up for a shortfall on another deal.
I guess one of you SOB's in California sort of gets a discounted shipping rate since I am paying my full $800 plus Museum Delivery. One should negate the other but we cant be so lucky.
