Well, I picked up my 06 Blk/Blk Z51 Coupe yesterday at 6pm. I drove her home and back to work this morning putting about 90 miles on her.
When I got to work, she began to idle rough and seemed to miss througout the RPM range. The check engine light came on yelllow. It was rough and shaking... idle was around 500 but it was still rough and appeared to be missing at 2K and higher.
Needless to say, she is back where she came from awaiting some results. Please, please, please let it be a bad injector, plug or something causing a cylinder to miss or something similar.
Ack! Cylinders 2,4,6,8 not firing and they still don't know why yet. They ordered a new PCM just in case but really haven't identified the cause and they have been looking at it for the better part of the day.
If the diagnosis is correct on not fireing on the even numbered cylinders, look at the under the hood fuse box, fuse #16 provided the power forthe even numbered injectors. Check it out.
I also had a 6 pm delivery yesterday for my red coupe, F55, A6. Fortunately, much better result. New A6 is very smooth, very quick shifting transmission. I don't miss my M6 1999 coupe at all. I haven't tried paddle shifting yet, which should add to the fun. Car is tight, quiet, very powerful, a quantum leap beyond the '99 coupe. Unfortunately, mine is going in to dealer tomorrow for body repair--deep scratch under nose from apparent shipping accident. It's always something....
Didn't I read somewhere on the forum about DOD for the Corvette...? Maybe you got an early prototype.....Seriously I hope you have a quick fix to the problem...First time I have seen anything posted about a bank of cylinders not firing...Keep all posted as to the outcome/remedy...And congratulations anyway...
I just wish they would call back when they say they will and provide status. When someone tells me that they will definitely call me before the end of the day for an update and it is now 2 hours into the next business day with no call... that irritates me more than the car being broken. I guess I will have to call.... again to get some kind of status. Need to know something...
Seriously, it's not likely to be anything major at all. It had to leave the factory okay and pass the QC and test drive. My guess is something came loose or a fuse popped. Let the dealer dealer fix it and don't worry about it.
As an aside....when I got my 2003 BMW Z4, it came in to the dealer fine, but never made it out of their driveway for delivery. The brake warning light came on and wouldn't shut off. It took them 2 days to find the problem. One small piece of wire had been improperly crimped and created a short. They replaced the wire and I never had any other issues with that car....other than trading it in for my C6.
You'll have your car soon and you'll love every minute behind the wheel.
mmmmmmmmmmmm as a C-5 owner, I keep watching this section, and I keep seeing things like this, I'll wait.
that is a great plan! please, be sure and let us know how it works out for ya. because hey, GM did such a fantastic job on the C5 "glitches" like column lock, leaking batteries, rocking seats, erratic fuel senders, oil consumption, ad infinitum.
they got ALL those worked out after the first year, right? oh wait, no.. most (all?) of those went right up to the 04 model year.

Wouldn't that be worth a pretty penny in the future, a pre-production prototype of LS2 DOD that made it out for public sale.
