Anybody driven the new A6 Transmission. I read an article in one of the car mags that said that the new A6 had a + button that if you held down up shift and down like the F1 paddle shifters. True?

I'm guessing that between the first and second periods there's a sentence hidden in there somewhere.

Nope, not true.
The 6 speed auto is merely a myth...4 floor shifted forward gears only.

I'm here to apologize for our other forum members for being so rude. We do welcome C5 owners here, and we all need to realize that not everyone spends all they're waking hours on this C6 forum.
There is a new paddle shifter, but I haven't even seen it yet. It sounds like it's getting good reviews. You might try a search on this forum for more info and experience.
I love new gadgets and I would love it but if it's like my wife's Rover it would always be in drive for me but I would love the option.
I just bought my daughter a Mini Cooper S automatic paddle shifter, and it's a real hoot to drive. Although I keep forgetting which way to press the paddles to go up or down! Luckily the computer won't let you wreck it! Anyway, we both decided it's better to just leave it in plain auto for day to day driving. Fun car, it's exactly 1/2 the cost of a C6 coupe, and has probably the least 3 year depreciation of any car sold today. I'll have pix up soon with my Corvette photos.
I'm waiting for the old "3 on the tree" to come back. It'd be great in the Vette!!!
I learned to drive stick on my parents 64 Galaxie 500 Country Sedan---a station wagon with a 390 with 3 on the tree and OVERDRIVE. It was quite a machine for it's day. At 40 when punching it in 2nd gear it would kick into overdrive which felt like a downshift on an automatic and it would fly to 80. One night a 327 Stingray was shocked when he was beaten by a station wagon. AND YES HE WAS TRYING. He would have eventually run me down but I shut down at about 90 and had a couple of cars on him. I have a great fondness for 3 speeds on the columns as long as there is OD.
