Default polished aluminum wheels

Has anyone had any feedback from their dealer or GM about any recourse as to milky polished wheels on c6?
Thanks,Len

every complaint to a dealer that i've seen here on CF.com has basically gotten a "bite me" response from GM. i'm sure there is someone, somewhere, that got something other in response to their complaint.. but the general feeling from GM is "too bad". *shrugs*

that's why everyone that asks now, I always tell them to buy the standard wheels... get aftermarket chromes.. and you'll have:

1) nicer looking wheels
2) an extra $500 in your pocket.

I have the factory polished (?) wheels on my Vert, If I had it to do over I would go with the standard wheels and get a set of after market...

Are they clear coated or can you try and polish them?

The wheels are clear coated. Best thing to do is try to sell them and buy a set of after market wheels. The car will really stand out with another set of wheels.

I've stated this in another thread, so , sorry for the repeat - but I just wanted to say that I like the factory polished wheel (GM should've done a better job, but...). Chrome wheels give a Corvette (and many other cars as well) too much of a "Bling look", not for me.

The look of polished Aluminum (when done right) looks way better than chrome IMO.

I'm really glad so many people don't like the polished rims,I think they look great, after all they are not chrome plated just polished aluminum. I had the stock silver wheels when I bought mine, but since there are so many dis-satisfied with the polished wheels was able to pick up a set on e-bay for $550 delivered to my door. Now my car looks great for less than half the factory price of the upgrade. And I still have the stock wheels. A lot of others out there are picking your milky polished wheels up for a bargain also.

Milk is for cookies, not for wheels.
would rather be in a Yugo than a C6 with my original wheels. They lasted about 3 weeks before I did the WCC wheel exchange. However, interested guys should search out Corvettes of Houston -- you can get C6 chrome wheels for about $800 WITHOUT trading in your original wheels.

So here is where this saga is so far.Called GM,they said to bring to dealer so service manager can inspect.Just returned.Service manager agreed that polished rims were milky.Documented it.But told me that since most rims came this way that is GMs standard, and not to expect anything.
I blew my stack, reminded him I bought car from HIM not GM.I am a dentist,if someone pays me $1400 for a crown and the lab sends me back a poor one I have to make good I can't sit back and blame lab.
That is exactly what dealer is doing.Should be his problem to work out with GM not mine.
Having said that,I don't expect any resolution and will probably buy aftermarket.
It just pisses me off that they are getting away with this.

You have to understand, GM doesn't think there is anything wrong with them. I have been bitching about the quality of Corvette polished wheels since I got my '01. The C6's are not any worse, it is just more noticable because of the bigger surface area.

BTW, I was out with some friends of mine again today - one of who owns a 2005 Viper with factory polished/clearcoated wheels. There is a night and day difference when you park a Corvette next to a Viper. The Viper wheels almost look chromed compared to the Corvettes pathetic wheels.
