Start sequence
How long will the starter stay engaged if there is a mechanical issue preventing the car from starting?

i've wondered the same thing. when we first got the car, I was under the impression I was holding the button down to start the car. in other words, I'd keep my finger on it till the car fired up and then let it go.
it wasn't until a month of so of driving that i went to tap the starter button and my finger slipped off... BUT... the car went ahead, turned over and fired right up! i was, like, duhhh. lol the button isn't a mechanical "connection" to the starter, Violet.. you dork.
it was after that while my mind was wandering (as it often does ) ...that i thought, well gee, i wonder how long it'll turn over before it quits if the engine DOESN'T fire right up???
that being said... everything in the car is computer controlled, there must be SOME sort of "time-out" that if the engine hasn't fired the starter quits turning. someone here, like C5-Tech, will know.

I'm going to wait until mine "malfunctions" to find out...maybe I'll never know that piece of information, and it will make me happy not to find out. I have no intellectual curiosity about this issue.
