Default Decision time...

Thanks to some input form some forum members I was finnaly able to locate a local dealer that would allow me to test drive a new vert after a few told me the don’t “allow” test drives in Vettes. I was pretty sure it was the car I wanted until I drove it an now I KNOW it’s the car I want.
Now I have another decision to make. I live in South Western PA and the car will not be used in the winter months. So I am trying to decide if I should order now and have it sit for a few months before I drive it or if I should wait until February or so to order.
The only plus I see to ordering now is that I could take it to LPE and let them have it for a few weeks to work their magic and not miss driving it.
What would you do in this scenario? My wife has already given up on discussing it with me and now she just walks away when I bring it up. So help me decide what to do here.

Thanks

Chad

Well, I just bought my C6 here in Michigan only 2 months ago, knowing I'd be putting it away for the winter probably by mid-November. I just COULDN'T WAIT! Of course, I've always been the impulsive type and I have a history of always wanting immediate gratification. Plus, if you're going to give it to LPE for a few weeks anyway....

On the other hand, you're REALLY going to want to drive it after the trip to LPE, so it would be a shame to just put it into storage for the whole winter! Maybe late winter/early spring is the time to buy? Sorry, I know I'm not very helpful!

By the way, what are you planning on having LPE do for you? 725 HP twin turbo??? Come on, it's only another $50,000!! (ughhh, I wish I could afford that one!)

I'm going for the 500hp/440 torque heads/cam option unless the reported new version of the maggie charger actually happens and I can go that route without replacing the hood.

I bought my M3 off the lot based off of the instant gratification urge and I was always wondering what if I had just waited and ordered exactly what I wanted. This time I am trying to be patient and get exactly what I want....

I, respectfully, disagree with this.

If you are not going to get enjoyment out of the Vette for a few months, why tie up money in it now?

Next - prices are sure to drop during the later part of the year (Christmas). In addition it is possible that GM will offer incentives in late '05 or early spring '06. Thus, you can save additional $ by waiting.

Last - if you wait you can order YOUR Vette, not just taking what a dealership has on hand. Believe me, you'll be much better off - the Vette will be completely your 'configuration'.

You'll love this option. As long as the package is LPE that is

Thanks for all your input guy's!
I'm planning to order the car I want vs. trying to buy off the lot somewhere. That way I am getting exactly what I want and not just settling for what is on the lot.
I think I am going to wait until the end of Jan/begining of Feb. to order and then make arrangements to have it modded and ready for hopefully the begining of May.

I respectfully disagree, buy the car now and enjoy it, whether it is in the garage or out cruising on a good day. Don't wait!!

I am in the same boat as you. I decided to wait until late jan. or early feb to order for april or may delivery. I've already made the deal with the dealer. Ordering it now and letting it sit all winter would drive me nuts.DSOM,mn6,3lt, I'm waiting. Good luck.

Except for the State (Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with Texas, my wife was born and raised there), Florida where you want to be.

Buy it now and drive it now....you can always take a trip south into Virginia - our winters are fairly mild!
