I was curious if anybody with a 2006 has noticed if GM finally modified the front license plate frame. There was so much complaining about it I would be surprised if they did nothing about it.
I did the NCM delivery on 29 Sept. Didn't get one. Sooo...
If a cop stops me for no front plate, I can honestly say there is no way to mount one!
Dave Salvatore offered to send me one with a couple screws and a drill bit. I may have to punish him for that. What say you Lager?

The next time I come to VA, I'll mount it myself. I wouldn't want you to get a ticket!
I just did the Museum Delivery and didn't get a front license plate holder either...
I don't think the cop will care but I'll use it as long as I can.
I've driven without a front plate for 10 years and never had a problem...
The next time I come up to New Jersey, I may have to pay you little visit! Imagine the nerve, screwing up a great excuse like that.
Just for that you can't use my idea for the t shirt
"..I went to Atlantic City and all I got was this Corvette..."

Apparently Dave Hill has just plain ignored this issue (and he was aware of same during the LSCC get together in May of 04 where he PROMISED it would be addressed before release of the C6 to the public ).
So, looks like all the C6 model years are going to be stuck with this totally unacceptable license attachment configuration - what a shame GM cannot address such a simple issue - no wonder they are going broke
When I took NCM delivery late last month on my 06 Vert, the front frame was stashed neatly in the trunk compartment with all mounting hardware. Don't know if my dealer specified it in the order, but it wasn't on my charge sheet. It will stay there until hell-freezes over. I have driven Vettes in Maryland for over ten years without a front plate and have never been challenged by LE.
I bet in Jersey you would change your mind. In my old trans am gt I had no front plate. Was stopped 3 times in two weeks by state police. On the thid stop i was told to put the plate on or my car will be towed. True story. When I got my vette I was stopped the first week I had the car. It now has a front plate.
Also in NJ. Don't have the front license plate mounted....would ruin the look, in my opinion. I've spoken to a bunch of cops whom I represent (I'm a lawyer; uh, no lawyer jokes, please) and they've all told me that they wouldn't hassle a driver who doesn't have the front plate mounted.
One did mention, however, that a cop in his department (Middlesex Borough, in, predictably, Middlesex County) always likes stopping Corvettes that don't have the plate mounted...and enjoys giving 'em tickets. Perhaps a case of jealousy.

I find your comments amusing because you are a lawyer. Maybe he gives them tickets because it is the law !

Yeah, right...Probably really strong on enforcing the law because it's The Law...Unless it's another cop.
New Jersey (other places too) has this thing called "Professional Courtesy". All the cops and family members have these little miniature shields...if you get stopped, you flip that mini-badge out, and the officer sez..."Oh, yeah, who's the LEO?"..."My cousin's wife."..."How'ya Dune?, blah, blah, Drive carefully, now."

Laws that are not uniformly enforced are a farce. One might be tempted to argue that the lack of full enforcement constitutes an implied contract that it is ok to not have a front plate.
Nevertheless, I have better things to do with my $ than give it to the police, so I have my nice vanity plate mounted inside of the grill.
When I picked up my new c6, I told the dealer not to install the front bracket. I live in NY and he said, "We can't let it leave the dealership without it." I talked with the guy and he said, "as far as i'm concerned...you left with it on." I keep the front plate in my car and show it to a cop if he asks about my front plate. I tell him I'm waiting for my new front bracket.. IF that fails......i'll just pay the ticket. The C6 looses appeal with a license plate on that great bumber.
