Why is the rear end so dusty?
OK, I'm a little puzzled. When I drive my LMB C6 after just washing it, I get a little brake dust on the wheels (which I expect), but I also seem to accumulate a LOT of dust on the rear end! What's the deal with that? What is it about the rear of this car that makes it such a dust magnet? It's like a CRT TV screen that starts getting dusty the minute you use it. It almost makes me think there is some sort of static charge on the back of the car (which I think I've actually felt before) that attracts the dust! Or does it have something to do with the aerodynamics and some sort of turbulence that develops at the rear of the car. The Rejex I've been using looks great, but it's kind of a joke at repelling dust. I don't think anything really does THAT.
Anyone have any ideas on how to neutralize the static on the rear end, or to reduce the dust layer? I hate having to wipe it off so frequently!

Every car I own does this. Its due to the air coming off of the rear of the car and "swirling" in turbulence back there. Just makes dust/dirt in the air behind the car sit on any ledges or bumpers. Carry a California Duster, they work great for quick dust cleanup.

Drifting
Its the aerodynamics of the car. I agree with NineBall but technically I am of the opinion it is due to lower pressure build up on the rear and not the actual "turbulence" of the air...
I thought the lower pressure back there acts like a vaccum and sucks dirt onto the rear bumper.. I may be full of it though so dont bank your retirement on my theory.
Either way: static, vaccum, or turbulence or other I agree its a pain in the behind. Guess our C6's are destined to have dirty rear ends. Its a shame given it is what most everyone else will ever see
We should petition Sharper Image to make one of those ionic purifiers that can function as a rear 3rd brake light and keep the rear end clean.... hmmmm damn I bet ya if I made one of those I could sell it

A vacum is created behind the car when it is moving and this sucks the dust on to the rear of the car. I have found that a good wax (Zaino) will help this by creating a slick finish. A California Duster works on this.

When I got home from my Museum Delivery (3000 miles) my rear end was crusty - like coarse sandpaper. But, it came off.
Just don't put this stuff on your rear end:

Cause: GM's Corvette group is in cahoots with all the wash centers and polish/wax manufactures, deriving an additional revenue stream from these people - thereby keeping the Vette at a reasonable cost

There is also some contribution from certain car care products. I won't mention any brands, but the ones most often discussed on the forum aren't the ones... The static build up is so severe with one brand that you can watch the car get dusty as it sits in the garage attracting every dust particle in the state...
