There have been a number of marketing studies that show people who buy American cars are often less sophisticated (from a sellers perspective) than those who buy foreign cars. They tend to expect less from the product and accept more faults. This is one reason American cars lagged way behind foreign cars in quality for a number of years.
Many quality issues with Corvette could be addressed for relatively small amounts of money. However, why should GM make an effort to improve quality when core buyers are happy “as is” and even ridicule those expressing some dissatisfaction? Many of the improvements made in the C6 over the C5 came about because GM wanted to sell more cars in Europe, not because they cared much about North American buyers.
Flame suit on.
Very well said/put...
Chevy can build a $50k car with lexus like build quality if we forced them to. We all need to insist on better quality, if not GM or any company for that matter, will do as little as necessary to make it better.
Now that the 06's have been out, what can we expect for 07? Don't laugh it will be here before you know it. What would you like to see changed/improved for 07? My wish list would be:
Fewer squeaks and rattles
Upgraded interior
25 more hp
Standard cargo divider
Same MSRP as 06
something tells me that you will still be wishing for the same things this time next year.
