Picked up my Magnetic Red Z51 A4 coupe one year ago today. Its been a little bumpy with a few visits to the service department but has been fun overall. I still look forward to driving the car every day. Just ticked 8080 miles as of this morning.
Mine was built 10/7 and I picked it up 10/27 so we're practically relatives. A few very minor issues here, otherwise nothing but smiles. You're getting more driving time than I am...only about 5500 miles so far here.
Congratulations and here's to many more years of pleasure from this fine car.
I've never looked up when mine was built. i picked mine up off the showroom floor and am not sure how long it was there before I bought it. Is there a trim plate or something on the car that tells you build date?
My C6 birthday was this week as well.
I am one of the former owners who "cut and run".
Of course, had GM done the responsible thing and fixed the pulley bolt problem before it failed, then I would still be a happy C6 owner.
Since they didn't, I am now a happy Porsche owner.
Should I have kept my C6 after the steering locked at 100MPH on the track?
Would you have any confidence in a car that did that?
I didn't.

To each his own that would have scared the bujesus out of me too but I am happy with mine and my bolt failed.
Well, I'll have to agree that my C6 hasn't been the most trouble free/ reliable car I've ever owned but it sure is fun to drive. I'm planning on keeping this one because I love to drive it but I am sitting the fence as to whether I'd buy another one. That dang Z06 sure is tempting but I would really be mad if I spent $75K plus and it had the little nuts and bolts problems that these c6's have been having. I'm starting to get the bug for C3's. I just bought a 1975 convertible and am trying to find a decent reasonably priced '68. Would make nice additions to the C6.
By the way, I'll have to agree that Chevy customer support is sorely lacking. I had a crank pulley bolt failure at 3700 miles. Car spent 2 weeks in the shop with the whole front end disassembled. What ticked me was the fact that several Forum members with the same problem posted that they had received 100K mile extended warranties with their repairs. I called Chevy and demanded the same but hey denied that any such thing was happening. Shooter49 was kind enough to fax me a copy of his letter declaring his 100K mile extended warranty which i forwarded to my "customer service rep". They got back to me about a day later with an "authorization" for a 72K mile warranty. I told them to stick it. If everyone else got the 100K mile warranty, then thats what I was entitled to also. They wouldn't budge and i told them "no". I couldn't help but feel that they were tossing crumbs at me to get me to go away. The warranty was only a component warranty for the engine anyway. I'm not worried about the engine. The small block Chevy is fairly reliable. Its the nick nacks like the delaminating roof or the "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING" messages and the leaky rear ends that I'm worried about. Oh well, I'll just keep driving and enjoying.

Sorry about your problem. For me, it would depend on how much I wanted a Vette over the Porche. Less than 2% chance of DCS (dreaded crank syndrome) I hear, you unlucky bast...! However, with a new C6 and crank after VIN #11000, what are your chances of two DCS's? 2% X 2%!
It's like having 2 separate suicide bombs on the plane at the same time, it just don't happen in a lifetime!
But you gotta do what you gotta do.
So good luck with your Porsche.

My crank bolt failed 2x and 19,000 miles later I'm still enjoying the crap out of my C6.
Tough times never last, tough people do!
Well, I am glad you are tough enough to deal with your car failures.
Since my son and I go on Southern California canyon runs with various car groups in the area, I felt it prudent not to test fate one more time.
Had my failure occurred while on one of these drives, my car would have gone over the side.
I was fortunate that my pulley bolt failed while going into a sweeper corner at the track. Had it happened 10 seconds sooner on an earlier corner, I would have gone straight into a concrete barrier at speed.
I had a great time with the car before the failure though.
I am glad you feel comfortable driving your C6 despite your 2 high speed pulley bolt failures. I was not willing to take the chance of another failure especially if my kids were in the car with me.

Thanks. I appreciate that.
Chances of a second failure were pretty slim, but then again the chances of the first failure were slim too!
I wouldn't have felt comfortable driving it the way it should have been driven with this constant thought in the back of my mind about another failure occurring.
It was fun though, that's for sure.
