Default Museum delivery question

My wife and I are considering ordering our C6 and picking it up at the museum and driving it back to Alaska. If you do the museum delivery do you also get charged transportation fees?

Yes, no one has posted any way to get out of the $800 transportation fee. Are you going to dirve the Corvette to Alaska?

You pay $800 delivery charge to get it across the street to the musuem and $490 museum charge. It is worth every penny.

If you take the drive in the summer, it's one of the best road trips you will ever take. Back in July 1998, I drove my 89 vert from Phoenix, AZ to Fairbanks, AK. A total of 3700 miles and I would do it again given the opportunity. The car was filthy by the time I got to Fairbanks but not one rock chip in the paint or the glass. Enjoy your trip.

I drove the Alaska highway a total of six times now. This summer I drove my truck to Washington state and hauled back a new boat we had bought. The highway is paved the entire way. Damn, sure was hoping to avoid the $800 shipping fee. My dealer here charges a $500 fee if we order from another dealer. Not sure what to do yet as we won't be ordering the car till next spring (have to sell the 01 first).

What he said! Federal law mandates the $800.00 destination charge, period, no exceptions. NCM delivery is $490, and like he said, worth EVERY penny...

Rather than pay the extra $500 you local dealer is charging, just purchase from a forum dealer and get the museum delivery. No need to pay the extra money.

The NCM told me that the car is loaded on a transport just like all of the other cars and driven across the street. The delivery charge is for the transport co. and everyone pays the same $800 no matter where they are.

No It's a federal regulation that the same destination fee be charged no matter were the delivery is.

70Nav,
I meant we had to pay our local dealer $500 if we ordered it from a forum vendor and had it delivered to Alaska instead of picking it up.
