Computer Glitch ??!
After showing the car to a friend during lunch, I started the car in the normal fashion but the radio failed to go-on. I tried pushing all the buttons but no luck. The only way to get the radio on was to park the Vette, shut her down and start the starting sequence all over again. This time all was OK.
Not being too eager to have the local Chevy shop mess with the computer, I thought overnight about the events leading to the apparent failure. Here's what:
In showing-off the car earlier (before the referenced "lunch") I had started the car with the #1 FOB in my pocked. Since the lady I was showing the car to was taller than I (with much longer legs), I hit the "Driver 2" button (since "Driver 2" had not yet been defined) to get the factory default settings. It worked, but the next time I started the car as described, ...well, you know.
To check this out, I repeated the "Lunch" sequence when starting the car this morning and, ...you guess it, the same results - no radio (and lord knows what else).
I will keep an eye on this for the next few days and if all seems OK, I will forget about the Service Call and just make it a point to NOT LIE TO THE COMPUTER any more. That is, of course, unless someone out there can tell me that this is a potentially serious problem.
Anybody had a similar problem ???
The solution is to have the dealer replace the radio with a new one. I had the "muting" problem and the radio was the only cure.

The explanation is equally simple: the driver settings memory also remembers the radio settings - including the volume. Since your car is new, chances are nobody has used the radio yet when driver #2 was set as the curent driver. The radio volume was undoubtedly initialized to 0 for driver #2.
The answer is so simple it will embarrass you: try turning up the volume.

NOPE !!! Tried that too.
