Anyone have this problem? I noticed a few days after installing my Borlas that I had a vibration / rattle. It has been getting worse. I lifted the car a week or two ago to check to see if everything was tight - it was. I readjusted the spring hangers so they sat more flush. It didn't help.
Today, I grabbed the pipes and moved them a little (when cold); it reproduced the noise. I'm wondering if they are hitting something underneath like the sway bar or something. I'm thinking of lifting it again to recheck. Could it be the rubber mounting bracket underneath the bumber?
Afraid I'm not an exhaust expert, but I do get an occasional vibration with my Borlas. It comes and goes, and hasn't been bad enough for me to worry about (yet). Anxious to hear about other's experiences. Hopefully yours will be a quick fix.
Check the clamp where the pipes attach to the H-pipe. When I first installed my B&B's I thought I tightened everything good, but one of the pipes moved out a bit. They should be cranked down pretty good.
Best way to fix the problem is to put the car on a lift. Had the noise rattle above the axle, first check to make sure the pipe are centered in the tunnel. I had to loosen the clamps in the front and back of the pipe that goes over the axle. Turned the pipe that goes over the axle so it angled to the outsides of the car. After tightening each clamp check the position of the pipe to make sure the pipe didn't move. It ain't easy, hope you have a lift and a friend to help out.
I just found the problem - I think. There is a clamp where a short bent piece reaches the exhaust system. In between the H-pipe and the mufflers. This clamp was turned so the bolt was facing up, and it seemed to be hitting the frame of the car.
I loosened the clamp, turned it so the bolt was out of the way, and retightened it. I haven't yet driven it, but I will today. We'll see if that did it.
I had a similar problem with MagnaFlow. Took it back to the installer and he welded a small anti-vibration weight filled with small lead beads on each pipe. He said Cadillacs and some other large luxury cars use them. It worked!
I have had a faint ticking sound (kind of like a valve tap...although nowhere near as loud) coming from the front end since installing the Borlas. Could this be a small exhaust leak?
Congrads on the exhaust fix. What is your opinion of the Borla regarding sound and look (tips)? I have borla systems my other cars and love them, but I'm still stock on my my C6, and have full intentions of doing a catback shortly. There does not seem to be a huge following on this board for Borla compared to the other brands out there.
I love the sound, but it can resonate at almost exactly 1600 rpm. I pass through it quickly, except when in traffic. The fit and finish is good, the look is very good. Better than stock. On looks alone, however, the edge goes to the B&B systems, imho.
Overall I'm happy. I love the burble on decel. I found the B&B Route 66 too mellow / smooth, B&B Bullets way too loud, Corsa's too 'European', and stock too quiet. Didn't hear GHL's in person, but they sound great on clips. Didn't hear Magnaflows either.
Thanks you for the detailed response.
I have some thinking to do. I do not want to go to mellow, since whats the point. No euro sound either, why kill the natural music of an american V8.

What's wrong with my "too European"? When you heard my Corsa's that are connected to my DynaTech headers, you were really impressed.
By the way, nice "surgery" on your Borla system. Nail in the tire,
Just put 4 new tires on my C6, BFG KDW2, great look tread and good grip. If you look at my thread on my C6 pictures, you know the one showing my black wheels, you can see the tread in one of the frames.
Had similar problem when first installed. Put the car on a lift and found that the long tube on the driver side was too close to the heat shield for the gas tank on the that side. Easy fix. No further problems. Love this exhaust.

I was hoping you wouldn't notice that! Yours does sound great, and, more importantly, the headers give it function in addition to form. I just tend to like the tone of the Borlas; deep, rumble, etc. The headers sure did wake up those Corsas, though! I still need a ride in the Batmobile!

Thanks. It was a minor operation, really.....no consent necessary!

I'll make my way back to the thread later on. I just found out about the Goodyear EMT warranty, thought, and a Goodyear dealer on Atlantic in Delray said they'd honor it. I'm on my way tomorrow.
