Gentleman sees our 06 MR/Cash/Bl and stops to talk. Ordered a car from a local dealer. As part of the deal, he has to leave it at the dealership for 10 days so they can 'show' it. Opts for NCM to get around this ludicrous requirement. Other Chevy dealer in our area did our courtesy delviery from a forum dealer. It was a 8 days from the time it rolled off the truck till they would deliver it. And it had 71 miles on it when we finally got it. I've always suspected they were up to the same 'no good'. Tough times in a small market.

even though it's not a whole lot of miles I would have not taken delivery of the car.....that's BS.....

One of the unfortunate consequences from buying on the Internet. Selling dealer was paid in full when the car arrived. Couldn't refuse despite being unhappy with the miles.
Yikes! Not that I don't understand the dealer wanting a "free" demo car, but ...
My dealer explained the mile and a half that he'd driven the car to fill it with gas and park it overnight in his own garage - said it was safer than at the dealership! Of course he's got two 'vettes himself.

Yes it is - I forgot to mention that when I called the day before to arrange a pickup time I was told that he was out buying a new wash mitt to use on the Corvette they had just received.
There's no doubt in my mind that these folks really want to do everything possible to make me happy. And I am.
That sucks. I saw a black 2005 with the stickers still on it and a dealer tag coming out of the Chik-fil-a drive through with the guy inside eating his french fries. I can only assume that was a dealer/sales rep... Just made me happy I decided not to buy a car from Hendrick. I don't want my car to have greese all over it when I get it from some stupid dealer taking it out to the fast food joint for a rolling lunch. blah..

you don't understand before a courtesy delivery you have to pay in full and if for what ever reason you refuse the car you have to pay shipping back to the originating dealer. What I would do is see if you can document the miles as it came from the factory and your as delivered miles and threaten a small claims court action for selling a demo car as new. At the least they should not charge you the standard fee for the "courtesy" delivery. I doubt any series damage was done to your car in the 60 miles they put on it but it is the principle of the thing.

I think I'll right a letter to the dealer, maybe make some waves. Would feel better if they gave back the courtesy delivery money since they were anything but that. Just hate to think of some sales guy(s) out try the first paddle shift car they had seen and it was mine they were shifting.
damn there are some overreactors on this board. So you would refuse delviery bc the car had 71 miles and instead wait however long to get another one ordered when the same thing may happen again?

Wow that sucks - I'd be pissed!
mine had 3 miles on, the distance to museum, back to factory, then back to museum. I did NCM and paid sticker, took delivery in JUNE and have had way more fun than waiting for something I didn't want at a lot would have provided!!
Sorry, got on my soapbox, none-the-less, that's a bunch of BS - care to share the names????

that's not the point....why should you put up with someone joy riding around in your car after you've paid for it in full.....true more than likely nothing hasppened to it but how would you feel if you knew they drove it for 60 miles and more than likely beat the **** out of it....what do they care, it's not there car....I'd be pissed as all hell and cause major problems for that dealership with GM.....there's no excuse whatsoever for them to drive the car....
Is it true you have to prepay for a courtesy delivery? I don't believe they can make you pay until you have a chance to see the car. I have a courtesty delivery scheduled for December and do not plan to pay for it until I have seen it and have the keys - Am I off-base here?

You have to have paid for the car. We're sitting their out $62K, seller is 1500 miles away, what do you do? Better have a plan because when the keys are on the desk, your check is cashed, the noose gets tighter and your options get fewer.
