I don’t know why but this post has me bugged a little. What is the big deal? are you guys blowing your tires out on a regular basis? I have had two blowouts in 30+ years of driving, and they were due to the fact I was broke and driving on tires that should have been retired long before they failed. Neither of those two blowouts damaged any part of the car, and I don’t think they damaged a wheel. If a tire blows and it damages your car call your insurance company, that’s why you pay the premium. I have had many tire punctures and I limped all of them home or into a garage to get them fixed. I ride a motorcycle entirely too fast and have for years, never had a tire issue, but have NEVER seen a motorcycle with a blown tire (or spare). If you are uncomfortable with changing to a better tire use the run flats, better yet if you are really nervous maybe you should consider a Volvo.
Ever have a flat with a high performance tire with alloy rims in Gila Bend AZ? The pain in the butt factor has a lot to do with the area you drive in. Out here in the wild, wild west flats and blow outs are a major PITA. (I've had 2 on my C6)
I just read my post (above) and it comes off a lot snottier than I meant it to, so please forgive me if the tone came off wrong, that is not my intent. Tires are a matter of personal taste and there is nothing wrong with run flats if you want them. I don’t think folks should be afraid of trying a different tire if they want to, if the very unlikely tire blow out thing does happen a cell phone and AAA card is a quick fix.

...... with 99% of that . I've driven hundreds of thousands of miles on car, truck and motorcycle tires and not one blowout here.
I've been run-flat-free for 4 years now on my C5 - and pretty happy I went that way.
Out of the top five tires in the C&D test, I believe only the Continental and the Michelins are being made in the stock C6 sizes at this time. I've heard some good and a lot more bad about the Continentals end even C&D mentioned in their test that they don't know how the tire ended up in second place as it didn't perform that well overall.

I live in NoVa, and sometimes have to travel through places in the DC area that make me want to be in Bagdad. You do not want to be stranded on the side of the road in a Corvette there. Granted Goodyear F1 GS D3s are superb. I have them on my BMW, and they are the best!
But I've gotten 4 flats in the last 3 months. Luckily all were around my neighborhood. Runflats aren't perfect, but they'll do until something better comes along.
Don't forget, they turned a sub-8 minute lap at the Nurburgring in a Z51, and a 7:35 in a ZO6, both on RUNFLATS!
GM
I have had the ps2s for over 3000 miles now and they are handsdown better performance wise !
They are much stickyer and seem to grab more
They are MUCH quiter and tighter in the turns ! my 2 cents

Back in the days when cars were made of more metel than plastic, a blow out was not nearly the issue it can be today. Keep in mind that our C6's have entire bodies that are NOT made of metal. I've often heard Corvettes referred to as the 'Plastic Fantastic'.
Many cars today have plastic bumpers and the inner fenders are also made of plastic. It doesn't take much force to wipe these components out. Today we have these very low profile tires that don't give us near the space between the rim and the road even when they are fully inflated.
I'm aware of at least 3 incidents where a blowout has damaged the car's fenders and I'm not on a hunt to find these things. Two of the cars damaged were NOT Corvettes.
