I got my C6 last week and have read some threads here that refer to the DVD that came with their car. When I got my car I was given a DVD for Onstar and another DVD for the nav maps.
Was I supposed to get an "owner's manual" type DVD?
Perhaps they were talking about the one that comes in the fancy black sales brochure. These seem to be given away only to good customers and folks that bought cars. At least when I bought my car most folks were getting them with the sale but that was a year ago. Some dealers have been known to forget mentioning their existance. The brochure cost 24 bucks on the museum website. I would call and ask for it. Its worth a watch.
If you're talking about the DVD with the black cover from 2005, the DVD doesn't come with that black kit this year. Although I have a 2005 C6, my dealer gave me the 2006 package and it just has the 2 brochures - no DVD with it.
I did get both an Owner Instructional DVD and a Personalization Instructional CD, along with an OnStar audio tour CD with my C6.
Apart from the OnStar DVD, you should have gotten 2 other CD's for an 06, assuming you have the Nav System - otherwise only 1.
"Chevrolet Corvette Personalization Instructional CD"
"Navigation & Audio Systems" CD
YES there is a DVD "owners manual" that comes with the car, along with a CD (that you can listen to about your car's functions) APART from the DVD that comes with the sales brochure. TWO disks should have come with your car, a DVD and a CD. If they did not, bitch to your dealer -- I'm talking '05, not sure about '06.
I picked up my 06 on thursday and got a DVD titled "Corvette Owner Instructional DVD" and a CD titled "Corvette Personalization Instructional CD". I did not order the NAV so did not get any other DVDs or CDs.
CDNSilver, I think I know the answer to your question.
The US models receive an instructional DVD for the vette. The Canadian Vettes do not receive this DVD. When I took delivery of my vette a couple weeks ago, I asked my dealer why the instructional DVD was missing and that was his answer.
At least you got the DVD with the Black brochure, my dealer did not even have one to give me.

We've heard this before about the Canadian C6s. I think the explanation was that Canadian laws require the DVD to be in French and GM would not pay extra to create one in French for Canadian owners.

This is the right answer. Canadians get shortchanged by GM Canada. You also won't be getting the Goodyear tire warranty. It is really sad that even after paying the exchange rate we pay more for these cars than our American friends and we get less. Thanks GM.
