Default c6 memory package?

Having owned a '00 convertible since new, I must say that one thing that always annoyed me was the way the memory work for both the seat and the telescoping steering column.

At times, the seat would move all the way forward when I unlocked it and other times it would wait to move forward until I put the key in!

The steering column would fully extend . . . which is were I had it set . . . and other times it would stop halfway out. I also noticed that I could not even move it manually when it did stop short unless I rapidly moved the switch until it did move!

Both issues were brought to my dealers attention a they said that they could find no problems, all work fine for them. What they obviously overlooked was my mentioning that it was intermittent. I figure it must have had a bad ground or loose wire somewhere.

My question . . . has this been fixed in the c6 or am I going to have to live with this again?

There are memory buttons labeled 1 and 2 (programable for 2 drivers). Emergency brake must be set for steering wheel to telescope away and for seat to move all the way back for exiting. No problems!

I also had a 2000 C5 but no problems with the seat or wheel and now have a 2006 and the seat and wheel work perfect. since you don't have a key you have to push a button when you get in the car #1 or #2 but when you exit it is automatic.

If you have the Auto 6 it is not necessary to have to have the eBrake set nor do you have to press the button. When I start the car it moves to my driving position. When I turn it off (in Park) and open the door it automatically goes to the exit position.

If you need to get out of the car with the engine running, push the Exit button. When you get back in you do have to push the #1 or #2 button to get to the driving position.

I had the MN6 previously and yes, you had to press the button for driving position. Exit position was automatic if EBrake was on. And of course, the 05 warned you if you didn't put it in Reverse.

The first 3 responses to this thread at this point are a little misleading.

It makes adifference whether you've got an auto tranny or manual tranny. It also makes a difference if you've got the auto memory recall and/or auto exit recall programmed.

If you have the auto tranny, you may program the auto memory recall and it will move everything into driving position automatically when you start the engine. You may alternately choose to push the button to have it do that after the engine starts. You may also program the auto exit recall, which will take effect when you stop the engine and open the driver's door or press the unlock button on the fob. Alternately, you can press the exit button while the vehicle is in PARK.

If you have the manual tranny, you must press the memory button after the engine starts to get everything to move to the driving position. To use the easy exit position, the hand brake must be set and you must press the exit button. I'm not sure whether there's any way to get the easy exit position to work automatically with the manual tranny or not. For sure, the driving position is not automatic for the manual tranny.

I just ordered mine w/mn6! Why the hassle for the manual and not the autos?

My c5 would easy exit when the key was removed and would return to driving position when I put the key in.

Now I can imagine some differences since the c6 doesn't use a key, but why not have it linked to the ignition . . . start/stop?! Why must it be in reverse . . . nevermind DBS etc . . . and the PB set?! Esspecially the PB!
