They're tiny and almost unnoticeable. But, to the "trained eye" do indeed designate it as an 06. (I have a sneaking suspicion that some 05 owners will be buying them for an "ego upgrade.")

I don't mind them at all, they are the only external visual indentifier of an 06 model.
That is something I don't understand. Why this desire to "set the 06' apart" from the 05'? It's a C6 for goodness sake. Except for very, very minor interior changes, and the badges, it's going to look the same until the C7 is introduced.
This was not designed for the purpose of setting apart the 06 from the 05 models. It was done throughout the GM line. All GM cars for 06 have the badges (and they are not white, but silver). It is a corporate emblem

I realize that. You missed my point. It seems that new owners are looking to set their cars apart as an 06', which puzzles me, since the 05' and 06' are identical in every meaningful way...

It is interesting to watch isn't it? When the '07s come out it will probably be the same type scenario.

The 06 has many mechanical and electrical upgrades from the 05 (for example (i) stronger rear end and (ii) A6 and (iii) no park in reverse required). 06 C6 will hold value better than the 05 which had some first year problems. Same happened with the SSR.

Yes, they do offer the A6, and that's great. But, I have a Z51 manual tranny, so that's a nonsequitor for me...
As for the 06' holding it's value better than an 05' = Balloon Juice...!!!

Becasue they look cheap and probably recycled from an old Oldsmobile seat belt clasp inventory. If GM wanted to put a badge, they should have made it look better, a lot better than the current one.

Probably true...
Having said that, my issue goes beyond aesthetics. The corvette is argueably the most easily identifed product made by General Motors. In fact, it is their only "icon" automobile.

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
