guy pulls up a very nice blk on blk c6. So I go up to talk to him. Ask him how he likes his vette.
He responds with, "I'm giving it back"
long story short, problem after problem. Month in the shop. Some weird stuff, some stuff from the forum. Then tells me that he also has another one, his wifes. And that one is perfect, no problems. Both 6 month old auto 2005s.
Maybe I don't understand the car QA process, but this seems weird even for a first year car. Add this to all the problems reported on here. I don't know, maybe this is normal, but sees a bit much to me.
Don't get me wrong, I'm loosing it waiting for my Z51. I guess it was just a bummer.

An aberration from the norm. Unfortuantely there are some Gremlins in ALL new cars. I wouldn't let it discourage you one bit.
QA can't catch everything. The car is SO complex that any one of the 1000s of parts could be just a bit off and cause problems. Say assembly nicked a wire in one of the wiring harnesses, probably would work fine until it gets wet the first time. Buying a new car is really luck of the draw, to some extent. Fortunately there are very few problem cars that can't be fixed under warranty and then remain trouble free for years.
Many, many of us are completely satisfied with our C6s and have had little or no problems. All cars have the potential to have problems, they are a very complex piece of machinery and for the most part built by hand by people.
When you consider all the diffetent steps necessary to produre the raw materials, manufacture the parts and build the car itself and the scores of people and processes involved, you can begin to see the possibilities are endless for problems.
Our C6s are a very complicated piece of equipment and the more complex to more chance for error. All auto manufactures have vehicles with problems, you just hear more about them here. That is a good think not a bad thing.
I took the chance and purchased a 05 C6 and I have not regreted this decission one single day.
The number of returned 1st year C6's is nothing, I repeat nothing compared to 1st year Mini Coopers!
There's always gunna be a few bad apples in the bunch, but with the C6 it's a rare one indeed. Let's just hope that GM takes care of the returnees expeditiously.
All manufacture's have a bad car from time to time. That's why there are abatration boards and lemon law's. My C6 has been trouble free for 5200 miles and survey's on this forum show most C6's have been also.
Guys we only talk corvettes here. Of course we hear a lot of bad. We also ear a lot of good. Look over in the C5 forum and all the issues with the C5's and there was what 8 years of them. I love my C6. I love Corvettes.

I am one of the lucky guys. No problem at 4,000 miles, Auto, Z-51.

It is very true that the factory's QC can't catch every potential problem. But the true issue is dealer service departments which aren't competent to find and fix those problems when they start to bite the customer. Any car is capable of being correctly repaired, given good competent techs and strong factory support. Both are too often lacking.
