Default Transparent Top

I am considering ordering my vette with both tops. I am ordering a white vette and i think it looks better with the transparent top on it.My question is does the tranparent top making it more noisy inside (from road noise etc..) and does it pop and squeak since it doesn't seem to be very thick material. Would it look bad to just paint the top black as it would still look like the tranparent top. help

I am very happy with my transparent top. No squeaks, pops etc. Noise inside is minimal.

I have both tops. No difference in noise level with either top. And no pops or squeaks with either top. Only about 1/2 lb. difference in weight (20.5 versus 21 lbs).

Transparent top is the way to go. Even in SoCal with all the sunshine it works great...

I have both tops, and love the transparent one. I use it except for the hot summer here in TX. Haven't really noticed it being noiser, but is is warmer in the real hot sun. If you order the car with the color top, you can purchase the transparent one through a dealer, and come out cheaper than buying both at the time of purchase.

I have had 2 Coupes, a 93 white and 2000 silver. Both of them came with both the painted and transparent tops. Total time the painted top was on either car is 3 days.
The transparent top is the only way to go.

If you are going to get both you might be able to save some money by ordering the car with just the painted top then get the transparent one from someone like Fichtner Cheverolet (www.fichtnerchevrolet.com or Parts@FichtnerChevrolet.com). Last I heard they were selling the trans top for less than $1200.

Buy the solid top and get the transparent one later if you want, especially if you live in a sunny area. It is much easier to get a hold of the transparent top than it is for the color matched solid top.

Default Transparent Top...

Once you put it on, you'll never want it off (unless you go topless I had one on my C4 and kept it on until the coating started to peel off (8 years later)

Go for it...

My car came with both tops, transparent still in the back & factory wrapped (car is 3 days old). I was gonna sell it, but I think everyone convinced me to keep it.

thanks,
Lusky

I had the glass top in 2 C'5s that I owned and also have it on my C6. I love the glass tops but I hope that GM fixed the cracking problems. C5 glass top are famous for having light crazy cracks all over the entire top. These are thousands of little hairline stress or heat cracks that are quite visible from the inside of the car looking up.
