Is there something wrong with my vehicle or is this common to all? I cannot dim the illumination all the way to "off" using the procedure outlined in the owner's manual.

Just wait for the electrical system to drain the battery dead and then the lights will be off.

Good idea, but I want to be driving when I dim the lights.

In seven months mine have never worked. Bright all the time but I like them like that.

Yeah, the manual is not clear one this one. You have to turn and hold the switch to brighten or dim the instrument panel lights.

Dash lights are bright or brighter. Much too bright for my liking but not much choice!

Exactly my experience. Your choice: Too Bright or WAY TOO BRIGHT.

Obviously designed by an idiot.

I thought I was the only one. Bright is O.K. during the day but I would sure like them a little "softer" at night.

This is a dimmer switch...it dim all the way from almost gone to bright. I have to hold mine (nornal) and zing it back and forth while i put pressure on the right hand side.
My friend's one work perfectly fine...I will get mine replaced

I saw a tech work mine but I can't duplicate it. It has always been like that. They come from the factory like that.

The dimmer switch is a very poor design. It is very frustrating to use and it takes one's attention away from his driving. Why the switch was made that way is beyond me.

I still can't control the brightness. Maybe I have a faulty switch. I'll have the dealer check it out next visit.

And don't accidentally push in on the switch. That will turn on your interior lights without giving you any indication that the switch is actually on. I wonder if this switch was designed as a practical joke.
