Does everyone have one tire with 4 large numbers on it in yellow on the side? MIne was the tire that had to be replaced because of the screw (rear passenger tire). I just thought it was interesting because my VIN was 5220 and this number was 5351. I don't know what the number represents, I was just curious if the number was suppose to tie to the VIN?

It's the sequence build number.

I've seen the numbers on some other pictures posed on the forum, but I don't have them on any of my '06 tires.

Ok, I have to ask the dumb question, because I don't know, but why is the sequence build number not the same as the VIN?

No, the sequence numbers includes everything that gets built in the plant. So this is preproduction units and the XLR now that it is built there as well as regular production C6s.

DOHP!!! Dangit, I wish I had thought of that!

I had also wondered about the yellow stamp on my left front tire, but never figured it out...it has to be the sequence number. When I first saw the stamp, I thought, "Dang, they must have gotten the tires out of VIN sequence." But the tires/wheels were correct for my Z51.

My VIN is 1566 and the stamp was like 1353, but the tire stamps are not always less than the VIN...My buddy got his coupe about two weeks ago, and his tire stamp was about 100 units higher than his VIN.

BTW, if it IS the sequence number, and it's already four digits...past Corvette production practice will probably mean the sequence numbers will go up to 9999, then start over again at 0001.

Whatever that number is I can't rub it off. I tried tire spray, Simple Green, nothing takes it off. Hopefully it will just fade away...

Yeah, it gradually fades...just brush the devil out of it every time you wash the car. Mine is just about gone now after about a half dozen washings.

Mine came off when I washed the car a couple of days after taking delivery.
