Has anyone had a problem with their trans top? I'm considering this top over the solid for my silver c6. Also, just wondering, for those of you who have purchased or are in the process of purchasing a silver c6, why silver? Thanks
I haven't seen any reports of problems with the transparent top.
I like my transparent top only silver C6. The dark top makes the car look lower and works with the other dark accents (spoiler, door handles, ebony interior, and other trim pieces) on the silver car.
The way Chevy prices the option though it does not make a lot of sense, money wise, to buy the transparent top only. If I were ordering like you, I believe I would opt for both tops. Surely Chevy has figured out how to keep the painted top from delaminating by now.
If you go the two top route and decide to sell the painted top, I would be very interested in buying it from you.
No known problems with the transparent top. There have been some problems with delamination on some of the solid tops.
Silver is a great color choice. You will find that the transparent top provides a nice contrast that really brings out the silver of the body. I selected the silver because it looks classy and never seems to loose its appeal. An added benefit is that it hides swirl marks and dirt very well so less grooming is needed. The Corvette is beautiful in silver with the transparent top, you will enjoy it.
No issues at all w/mine. I have both tops and will use my transparent top from November thru March when the temps are a bit cooler here in the mid south.
It looks great w/my VR coupe
Not with the transparent. I bought both, and the painted one delaminated in August. Been using the transparent ever since. Still waiting on the new top.
I originally bought a Precision Red with manual tranny. Although I really liked the color, it did show the dirt a little more than the silver. Also, I had a couple of different issues with the manual tranny: my wife can't/won't drive a manual tranny car, and I had a problem with other drivers pulling up too close to my rear bumper while stopped at a traffic light at the top of a hill.
The dealer from whom I originally ordered a C6 got the silver auto tranny coupe in stock. Although I had 1900 miles on the PR, the dealer made me a pretty good deal on the silver, so I swapped after my wife & daughter said how much they liked the silver.
It does show the lines of the car better than most other colors.
I do have the painted top and prefer it to the transparent top. Too much sun here in the summertime.
I love my transparent top. No problems with it other than the fact that ocassionally it makes a little bit of noise - I bought some lithium grease for it - just need to figure out where to put it!
Had both tops for my Machine Silver coupe but quickly decided I didn't care for the the look of the car with the transparent top so I sold it. I felt it was too dated and the C6 looked best with the overall solid color. JMO.
