Default fuel efficiency

i know, i know, this is subjective but i have a quick question.

What type of Instant MPG are you getting ? I'd like to know the model, trans., gears, rpm, speed and instant mpg.

(preferrably as flat as possible - no downhill coasting)

for example;

model trans. gears rpm speed impg
cpe mn6 3.42 1500 80 30

impg = instant mpg

Timely thread. I just checked mileage on my 2006 Coupe, Z51, MN6 using the old fashioned method (pencil and paper). My last tank of gas gave me 19.6 mpg; all of it was around town driving. I had been watching the mileage on the DIC. It had been showing anywhere from 19.2 to 20.5 depending on where my local travel was. I really am having a hard time believing the mileage is this good.

In these kind of threads if you are answering please let us know A4/A6/M6 Z51/not Z51 and if an A4 3.15 or 2.72(?)
I have Z51 A4 with 3.15 and I get around 18.5 around town average. Haven't taken a long road trip yet. I never look at the instant as and slight change in speed or elevation makes such a huge difference (However I've seen as low as 3 and as high as 99).

Z-51 with 3.15 gears, A4 transmission. I check my mileage at every fill up and my numbers are very consistant.

50/50 driving on highway and street = 20.4 MPG
All city driving = 18.8 MPG
Highway trip of 402 miles with average speed of 78.8 MPH = 24.8 MPG

Default Z51 mileage

I don't drive my car that hard, but at 1600 miles, I'm getting 14 to 15 around town and 21 to 23 on hwy.

I tested my DIC "Average mileage" against a fuel fill up today.

I had gone 111 miles and the average mileage was 18 mpg. It took 6.194 gallons of gas. So 6.194 * 18 = 111.5

Wow! I didn't expect the average mileage to be that accurate!

The highest my instant will go is 70 MPG on my 05 C6. I must be doing something wrong. My other car will go to 99.

I did 400 miles today from San Antonio to Houston and back at 70-80 mph or so and averaged 24.9 (MN6 Z51) with a little city driving mixed in for the whole trip. The lowest instant I saw was 9 jumping on an on-ramp and the highest was 70 coasting.

Instant is all over the clock. I've seen 9 and I've seen 85 MPG on the instant. The roads around here aren't flat enough to get an instant that could be used as a valid comparison against others. But with that caveat, I see between 30 and 31 on the flattest stretch of I-85 during my daily commute, about 1900 RPM and a touch over 75 MPH. Car is A4 with 3.15, non-Z51.

On trips, I've been averaging around 29 MPG, and overall including some city driving, my average since I bought the car a little over a year and 18,000 miles ago is 23 MPG.

mn6, z51, i am getting like 30mpg on the freeway (70+-, 1800RPM+-), but as soon as i hit the gass to pass or anything like that, it drops to 16Mpg or so, depending on how hard i push it.

ANd crusing around town, if i am hitting lights and etc, i average about 17.5mpg...
