Anyone able, or willing to divulge the current hold back on a 06 C6 3lt conv.? I'm ordering from a local dealer and he is telling me he is making only the " hold back" I think invoice is about $8K below MSRP. Any help out there? The dealer is offering about $4200 off.MSRP( the car will be ordered) Should I be happy and just shut up?

He's lying...he's making about $3000 + holdback. Whether you want to be happy and shut up is your call. You don't have to quess about the invoice price...go to Edmunds.com...invoice pricing rounded to the nearest dollar. Holdback is a standard percentage and different for the different manufacturers. I think GM's is 2% of vehicle MSRP...it's also given on Edmunds.com, but you may have to search the buying tips.

If invoice is $8k below MSRP, and he is discounting car by $4200, How do you come up with he is only making holdback? Wouldn't he be making $3800 plus the holdback? And in my opinion, you can do much better on an ordered car.
He's making more than the hold back. Your right that the markup is a lot more than your discount but it still sound's like a good deal. I don't think anyone is going to tell you the exact amount of the "hold back".
The real question is does the dealer have an allocation? Some member's have waited month's just to get an allocation. Good luck.
Looks like you've been a member since Nov 2004 so you have probably heard of our supporting dealers on this forum...so, may I suggest you click on the Kerbeck web site - let the opening page load and "Bingo" - there's a better offer than your local dealer and the best part is that they have the allocations to get the Vette you want.
I think all or most of our forum dealers can give you a better deal with no BS involved.
A loaded Vert is about $7500 plus or minus of profit above invoice. There is less than 2K in hold back. If you over look into it then it will drive you nuts.
Anything about 4K below MSRP is a steal on a 2006. Take it and be happy with your new car.
here is the invoice price on the vert 45922.65 and the 3lt is2817.85 z51 is1406.85 polished wheels are 1074.85 also on the invoice are the advertising fees. 4500 under is not bad the spread from invoice adn including shipping is around is just under 6000 for the car excluding shipping and advertising fees. add shipping of 800 and the invoice advertising fees vary from dealer and region. I think 3% of msrp is too much for hold back what are you guys basing that on?

FYI I would turn down that deal.
he may not know you are a dealer so by turning down the deal you mean as a seller?

Like invoice pricing, the holdback percentage is public information on the internet...all you have to do is look it up.
Advertising fees are an option the dealer has to sell cars...It's BS to try and break it out as a line item like it's some kind of official GM fee. It's a cost of doing business like the electric bill...if his cost of doing business is not competitive, he doesn't make the sale. Unless, of course, he can convince you that the "advertising fee" is a required, invoiced fee that everyone has to pay.
