Default C6 Doors

Both of my doors swing open to lightly and don't hold themselves in a half open position. Does anyone feel this is an issue that should be looked at.

Probably not an issue. Mine open easier than the bimmer, mainly due to the materials and construction used in the BMW (lots of metal).

Not nearly as serious an issue as the flimsy ashtray or lack of a coin holder that we've had to hear about the last few days.

Not an issue for me. It's part of the unique Corvette look and feel.

I've noticed that too. The only issue it creates for me is that I can't park in the third space in the garage which is close to the wall. Parking the vette in the middle space solves the problem.

The only reason im concerned is that it swings open all the way and doesn't hold steady in a half open position, even a light wind could potentially make it whip open....other than than that i can't wait to drive it in the spring. I only drove it for 8 mins... since i bought it....

....even more of an issue is the fact the trunk opens lightly as well.....I can't beleive GM let these cars off the line with doors and trunks that open so smoothly.....

Kind of weird that it doesn't stay half open. Mine does. But it's definately not something I'd take it in for. Watch out for the strong winds though. A couple weeks after I got mine I opened my door at the gas station and the wind ripped it out of my hand and it slammed into the pump. Fortunately it didn't even leave a scratch, but it sure freaked me out.

Mine stays open okay in the half-open position. But I agree that it's not a serious enough problem to take it to the dealer just for that. Get them to look at it the next time your car has to go to the dealer for anything else.

I'm not against discussing the cars flaws. Belaboring small issues over and over is annoying but no less so than the unmitigated sunshine that some fanboys are trying to ram down our throats. I love the car but its not perfect. I notice based on the stuff they fixed going to 06 that someone at Chevy is listening so I don't think that this sort of thing is entirely wasted. This is also the first time I have seen someone mention this and I agree. I think its too light in the center position also. Cant be trusted unless the car is on level ground and no wind. I'm against dinging someone else's door just as much as I am against them dinging mine. You end up having to hang onto it a lot where you would not in most other cars. Since your already climbing down in the best of cases and now also holding the door half open it makes it a little harder to get into. Not exactly a crisis but a design flaw nevertheless IMO. I'm under the impression that this is the design since it is the same in all the C6s I have been in.

I have a similar issue with the door, when I open it I use to swing out my right foot first and get my hip wedged under the steering wheel, I have spoke to every one in the country, and apparantly I should have been using my left foot first if I wanted to get out of the car.

The doors feel light because most of us are used to the steel doors on our other vehicles.

I drive my F-150 as well and the doors are night and day different than my vert. Honestly I like the doors on the truck better. But the difference doesn't really bother me.
