I'm curious. Where did you get the 42 volts from?
I have a tough time believing the 42 volts is based on anything but a particular prototype.

Where you been hiding?
42 volts is coming… With e-Brakes, e-valves, e-air conditioners, e-steering and e-everything. But not on the first C6’s. It’s awhile off. But it can’t be stopped.
WHY? Because it’s takes the power load off the engine. Higher performance and better fuel mileage.
I just can't see electric valves being as reliable as mechanical. But I can see the advantages. How much horsepower would you guess the whole cam-pushrod system robs anyway?? I bet it's plenty, on the 20-40 HP range.
If you think that roller rockers improve power by up to 20hp over stock rockers, and thats just reducing friction, I think a lot of power can be gained with electric valves. However, the big plus might not be the elimination of the pushrods, but the ability to infinitely change your valve-timing
I thought the F1 cars used a pneumatic valve system.
still those F1 engineers spend millions on developement.
often ive pondered a pneumatic valve train on my 350 but i can only dream.
for the C6 a DOHC 32 valve train similar to the nissan R34 neo engine would be pretty good.
