Took my car to the dealer for the rear hatch button failure and it seems they are on backorder.Looks like a new part # is available and the Tech told me it was updated and redisigned.Hopfully better than the last one which worked intermitently. If your having trouble have them replace it with the new designed version.

Save yourself a trip to Mr. Goodwrench. Remove the switch, take it apart, clean it , replace, coat it with electrical clay(Home Depot $2.00). It will outlast the car! Total time 15 minutes, cost $2.00 and plenty of clay left over.

Mine originally only worked for about a month. However it has worked flawlessly since I removed and cleaned it myself about 7 months ago. My assumption is that the cap was not securely in place when installed the first time.
