Its all about money folks, that unpainted surround most likley saves GM 10 cents a car so bye bye it went. This is why GM is in the dumper they pull this kind of crap all the time. Then there stuff looks sub par to the other makers that go the little extra distance. will they ever learn?

Actually, the surround is all one color in both pictures, but the radio faceplate and the HVAC ontrols (I think), are the sdame color as the surround and match the interior. Right now the C6 has, what 4 or 3 interior colors. So that incurs the additional costs. How do other supercars do it? Multiple radio face plats changes, or all black?

I bet it was because GM was planning on selling painted consoles and found that a more neutral color for the components went with the optional console colors better.

The surround for the radio and HVAC is always silver and the radio and HVAC themselves are black on production cars. In the top photo, both are silver.
