Default C5 vs C6

I'am thinking about trading my '03 50th ann.special edition conv. 6 speed it's been a great car. Thinking of a 2006 coupe Z51 package 6 speed with the 3LT package. Can I get some feed back from those who have gone from a C5 to C6 . Thanks Much. Vince

Hi Vince I went from an '01 Vert base susp A4 to a '05 C6 Z51 MN6 and all I can say Holy SXXt, Much quiter, the top does NOT leak, that is a first for me, handles like its on rails and goes like hell. My Vert was one of the first built Jan 2005 and no problems except noisey brake pads that were replaced under warrantee Do it you will not regret it.... Good Lucl

Just traded an identical '03 AE car (mine a coup) on the exact car optioned precisely as you've mentioned you're thinking about, Vince.
Oredered a Victory Red 3LT w/ glass top, MN6, Z51 & custom wheels built, & picked it up November 22nd.

I can say, without reservation, the Corvette for 2006 is superior in every respect to the 2003.
And make no mistake about it, I *loved* my 2003 AE.
And add to my glowing endorsement the few troubles with the first year 2005 C6 have been addressed.
So a 2006 is a good bet on top of it.

As for performance?
All I can say is [hang on to your shorts[/i], my friend.
The 2006 LS-2 makes the "old" LS-1 seem slow, and we both know the LS-1 was anything but slow, right?

Get that 2006, you'll love it my friend.

And OBTW?
I dare ya to keep the rear end planted on the road through the first two gears, too.

There is no comparison. I also traded my 50th away. I thought I'd miss it. I thought wrong!

I sold my C5 vert and bought a C6 vert Z51 6 speed with 3LTD package. I'll tell you straight the C5 was a beautiful car and has greater Corvette presence in terms of size and shape than the C6 does. This is what I miss most. With that said the C6 does look very good and without doubt has improvements throughout including much better handling and performance, most particularly the Z51 package. For these reasons, I have doubt that you would not be disappointed with the C6 that you are thinking about. Go for it.

I have both a 2000 FRC (which is Z51/MN6 stk) and a '05 Z51 MZ6. They're 2 different animals, and like 'em both, It's all a matter of personal preference and choice, so do what you feel like .

You said it. The 3LT package is one of the real reasons. Technology!

I traded an '04 vert for an '06 vert. I was thinking it would be an incremental improvement ... it ain't. 3 out of 4 of my favorite options are specific to the C6: HUD, power top, fob's and heated seats (ya, even in Texas).

C5 is out of date, old looking, nowhere near as sophisticated as the C6.
I recommend you jump in to a C6 with both feet, It's a totally different experience and not 90's technology either. :
