I think it depends on the dealer. My car did not come with locks, but I bought two Jeeps last year, one for my wife and one for my daughter. My wife's had more options and no locks, my daughter's had locks because the dealer I got my daughters from puts locks on everything.
We had a Firebird with a locking nut on each wheel. Bought new tires and always told them where the wrench was. It wasn't replaced nor noticed until nearly a year later for a flat repair. Make that $300 to cut them off and replace the damaged studs. I'd rather have them steal the wheels with a zero deductible.
go and get the mcgard locking lug nut kit it is 25 at pep boys. You may not care if they take your wheels since you don't like the polished ones however think of the fun you will have getting your car home from where ever it was left. Also do you think they will jack it up correctly when they do it.?! i know that it can be stolen anyway however if deters the amateur little creeps and they go on to the next car that is all I want. Most of us are pretty **** about our cars. Mcgard has you register and you can buy a second lock that you can keep not in your car if you tend to lose things. just my humble opinion

That was a rip-off. I've heard here on the Forum that you only have to hammer a socket on to get the nut off.
You go ahead and take a hammer to yours then worry about what else you screwed up pounding away. I'll pay to have it done right. So, it wasn't a rip off, just not the approach you would have taken.
There was picture posted a while back of a c6 vert sitting on it's disc brakes in a parking garage. Your right it if a pro wants your car they jsut put it on a flat bad and it's gone. It is the low rent thieves I worry about. I do not want to get stranded and have to deal with repairing brakes towing etc. In the end do what you want to do I think 25 bucks for the life of the car is a cheap deterrent.
