Do any of you have the problem with other drivers not seeing you when you are driving next to them and then suddenly they decide they want to be in your lane?
Yeah, especially jacked up SUVs and trucks. Their mirrors are 4-5 feet above you and when they look they look right over you. Best to be aware of THEIR blind spot and not be in it...
I have almost gotten hit several times by other drivers in about the same height cars too not just jacked up trucks and SUV's. I am always aware of what the other driver might do and proceed cautiously.
I had a soccor mom in a Suburban back into my C5 at a stop sign. I was a full car length behind her and she swore she looked in her mirrors but didn't see me before throwing the SUV into reverse. By the time I shifted to R and got to the horn, it was too late.

Thats good advice. Practice defensive driving at all times. Its a zoo out there and the animals are everywhere.

This has been the biggest problem for me as well. I go to a health club in the a.m before reporting to work and have been nearly backed over about a half a dozen times now in the parking lot by the soccer moms trying to get their SUV's and minivans back to the house to get Johnny on the school bus in time. I drive very slowly with one hand on the horn looking for my bailout zones.
Not very often. I try to stay out of other drivers' blind spots. I have also noticed that a lot of other drivers don't do this. I've had them get in what would normally be my blind spot and just continue to stay there.

You're lucky. Texas drivers can be a little crazy sometimes. I got one that changed lanes on me and we were right next to each other, no blind spots whatsoever. Luckily there was plenty of room for me to move in order to not get hit. The guy didn't even acknowledge the fact that he changed lanes and almost hit me. He looked at me like it was my fault.

We know where your other hand is....so how do you steer?
This usually isn't a problem, however, since you brought this up, just today I almost had a Hummer take me out. I was just glad no one was in the other lane so I could escape.
Unless you're looking for trouble the only time to be beside anyone is when you're passing them.
Yep. Do not loiter around near someone's rear quarter where you are likely to be in his blind spot...you're definitely asking for it.
I keep a constant inventory of vehicles coming up behind...once they leave my inside RV mirror, I start looking for them to show in my side mirror or in my peripheral vision outside the door glass...If they don't show soon, I start looking for them until they are accounted for.
The suggestions to set your side mirror views out to the side if fine once you are on the road, but with inches of clearance on each side of my garage door frame, I like to be able to see BOTH my rear fenders and the door jambs.
The larger problem is that this not only pertains to Corvettes. You can be in anything and this crap happens - it's just the way a-holes drive nowadays. This includes all the "Jeff Cordon wannabes" as well. Nothing like having a Chevy pickup truck "drafting" you at 75 mph, then swerving around you inches from your back bumper. This is especially true around here in the Baltimore/DC area where we were recently voted the worst drivers in the country.
