Our C6 is coming up on 1000 miles and I was wondering when the first oil change should be performed. I don't see anything about it in the owners maunal and I don't want to wait until the oil change notice comes on.
Most people here on the Forum do change at 1,000 miles even though you don't have to.
After the 1,000 mile change, I change my oil when the DIC says 50%. Other people have different change schedules but the 50% was a suggestion from a Team Corvette powertrain engineer.

You don't see anything about it in the owners manual?
I changed mine today at around 1000 miles. It's not required but I'm Old School. If any junk is in the engine after break-in most of it comes out and fresh Mobil 1 goes in. I'll then change every 5000 miles.
Enjoy and may the torque be with you.

Did mine at 1500 miles...after a trip from Montana to Calif for 1350 miles. Then I usually change it around 30% DIC, which worked out on my C5 to be around 5K miles. I only have about 3500 on the C6 so far so don't know what the interval will normally be with it.
With a new factory built engine, there isn't a lot of wear metals in that first fill of oil nor will there be any other major contaminents like there would be with an aftermarket rebuild (where they usually use a lot more assembly lube, and the environment isn't as clean where they put it together)
So you can safely go 5k on your first oil change and if you did an oil analysis on that oil you'd see there was nothing major to worry about.

It has to be done at EXACTLY 1,283 miles. The second oil change should be done EXACTLY 3,473 miles after that. From that point on, every 8,921 miles should suffice.
Most likely no reason to do it, but I plan to change at 1000. Just feel better about it and it will be a good reason to look around under the car, check the tranny and rear end fluid, etc.
