Default Now what do I do for wheels?

I ordered my '06 coupe with painted wheels planning to do the WCC wheel exchange. Not wanting to risk the reported peeling problem, I'm now back in the search mode.

What other reasonably priced options do I have for (quality) chromed wheels?

What should I be checking into in addition to chrome and what are the best sources (again reasonably price).

All suggestions appreciated.

Define reasonable. Some guys on here have a pretty hefty discretionary income to work with.

Why don't you wait until your car comes in? A lot of owners who ordered the standard wheels, myself included, decided to keep them after seeing them in person. They're very well finished and look good with most colors. If you decide, after living with them for a while, that you really don't like them, you still have all your options open.

Corvette Mike has the same exchange program. The cost is only $650. They say they are triple plated and have a three year warranty.

Exactly what I did, and still have and like the standard painted wheel...

I do have the car and the standard wheels are okay. Still think I'd like something a little nicer though.

I agree that you should wait for the car and see how the wheels look. You never know once they are on your car how they will affect your perception. You have all the time in the world to shop right and buy right. In the meantime check out this recent thread for an alternative to chrome.

My discretionary income is limited by my willingness to spend.

I'm thinking under $1500.

Are they the same exact size and offset as stock C6 wheels? What's the quality look like? Warranty?
I'd probably go for polished, do you know what their delivery time is?
Pictures of them on your car?
Thanks

I couldn't find a website address but his cell phone is 561-445-7606. I ordered a C6 last week and am in the same boat. Imagine my joy to find out Bob's in the next town!

I agree with Stan...I ordered the standard on my black/cashmere coupe thinking I would swap them out but they really do look well...understated logo, good finish, easy to keep clean.

I would get the standard wheels, then send them to be polished and clear powdercoat the inside of the wheel hoop to keep that part from neeeding constant attention. Then, you only have to polish the face, which is a simple design to polish. Or get iforged wheels, like me, but they are more like $2500

What should I be checking into in addition to chrome and what are the best sources (again reasonably price).

All suggestions appreciated.
Let me start this by telling you that I have the WCC chrome wheels on my car and so far, everything is fine. I was however, interested in this issue so I just contacted WCC and asked them about the peeling chrome and the guy getting a can of paint sent back to him. I've been informed that the employee who sent the paint was out of line and has been reprimanded for doing that. I was also told that even though the inside or barrel of the wheel is NOT covered by the warranty, WCC is going to send the guy a new wheel.

Oh yeah, I decided to check the warranty on the chrome wheels I have on my Pickup and guess what, the warranty covers only the front surfaces of the wheels. These wheels are from a totally different company so their warranty is the same as WCC. WCC wheels are triple chrome plated so they are the same as what you read about on most of the other sites that offer chrome wheels.

I guess the one thing to be learned from this is to read in detail all warranty information before you buy. To be honest, I saw three years on the chrome (on both my truck wheels and WCC) and didn't really look any further. My guess is that if all the wheel waranties are looked at closely, we will find that most of them are exactly the same - they cover the front surfaces only for the chrome.

Just before I wrote this posting, I did a quick search to take a look at the warranty statments of some of the other wheel suppliers and most of those sites don't have the warranty information available at all to see. It appears that you will have to contact them and ask for it.

Yep, I'm working on that. It will be interesting to see if anyone has a better warranty (although this is of course contingent upon the reliability of the dealer).

A little more food for thought on this inside the wheel stuff. I just called a place that I've done business with for many years, buying wheels, ask the guy I've always dealt with about this issue. He told me that 90% of the wheel makers only warrant the outside surfaces of their wheels. The reason is because the inside of the wheel is subjected to all kinds of crap from abrasive brake dust to just plain old dirt and the inside of the wheel in RARELY ever cleaned. When you think about that just for a minute, it makes perfect sense. Would you warrant a surface that will rarely be cleaned of all the abrasive comtaminants it will be covered with????
