Sorry if this has been discussed, but I couldn't find it in the FAQ...
Is there any way to set, delete or control the volume level of the beep that happens when you press a DIC gauge button. When I'm cruising along and check tire pressures or switch from fuel level to whatever, that damn beep is loud as hell.

Grazie,

Try this: (assuming you do not have the Nav radio)
To change the volume level, press and hold push-button 6 with the ignition on and the radio power off. The chime volume level will change from the 'normal' level to 'loud', and "Loud Chime Vol" will appear on the display. To change back to the default or 'normal' setting, press and hold push-button 6 again. The chime level will change from the 'Loud Chime Level' to 'normal', and 'normal Chime Level' will appear on the display. Each time the chime volume is changed, three chimes will sound as an example of the new volume selected.
Note: There currently is no option available to adjust the chime on vehicles equipped with a Navigation radio.

Page 3-101 of the 2006 owner's manual for the above information. This option is not available on the 2005 C6. Bradb's profile says he has a 2005 C6. Sorry bradb, this will not work for your car, as I told you in my earlier post.

I have an 05 and it does work. However, "normal" is still loud enough to make me deaf. Evidence that the vette is targeted to people much older than I am.

Or targeted to people with loud exhausts. How many threads have you seen in this section where C6 owners changed their exhaust to make it louder?
If this chime level change does work on your 05 C6, it must be something that started in mid-year, since it's not in the owner's manual.

I just tried the settings from calemasters and it did work. Still too effing loud, though, I agree. Is that the speaker on the driver's side A pillar? If so, I might take it off and add some muffling to it.

Happy New Year, folks!

No, that's the microphone for the OnStar, and maybe the Nav too.

Say Again?
Actually, doesn't matter if he can adjust it or not...Radio only has two chime volume levels...VERY LOUD (DEAFENING) and BEYOND DEAFENING.
This wouldn't be the first time that something is not in the manual but is on the car. My '05 C6 was manufactured in Oct. '04, and there was no information in the manual about how to change from "military" time to conventional (am/pm) time on the clock. I had to get the info from GM, and then they sent me the wrong info. I think it was someone on the forum who finally gave me the correct instructions.

I have very sensitive ears and am extremely sensitive to loud and/or annoying frequency sound. Ironically, I do not find the "beep" to be so bad. It's loud, yes, but not THAT loud. I wish the beep wasn't there, but at the same time, it doesn't bother me too much.
If anything, the beep is specifically annoying when your passenger is talking to you and you wish to quickly check your DIC gauge info... then your passenger is interrupted by the beep noise... they tend to not appreciate that.
