HI ALL I was wondering if dealerships use up or lose one of thier allocations by ordering a vette for you?? Is that the reason they are reluctant to do this or is it that Profit thing again?? TONY
An allocation is an allocation regardless of how it is sold. It is my understanding that a sold allocation begets another allocation. So, a dealer that sells a low amount of vettes might be able to increase their usual vette allocation by selling units GMS.
It's strictly a profit thing. I live in SoCal and no dealer in the area, not even Cormier Chevrolet, which is the biggest Corvette dealer in SoCal, would honor GMS on '06 models. I wound up using VetteNet who found a dealer for me with the Z51 allocation, and my order was placed that day (11/22). My Vette was produced on 12/21 and will be courtesy delivered to a dealership here in SoCal, on or around Jan 8. I guess Kerbeck and Stanford will do it as well.
GMS is the employee discount program for current GM employees and retirees. I used this discount through my retired father for my C5 in 2003. So I will be looking for GMS on a C6 within the next few months when my lease it up!
